Here's some Northern cottonmouth video footage from last week's roadtrip. My heavens, how I love Northern cottonmouths. I usually lean more towards photography, but video is occasionally fun to dip into. youtu.be/az0_5-fvAKU?...

We have 2 cool shirts! I have to sell them out by early April for 2 reasons:

1) 5 of my family members are staying in the Skype a Scientist stockroom in mid-April 😅
2) I need to fund our mural project which starts the first week of April!

They're soft! They're cute! Get a shirt!

Triple-shot of three different Northern cottonmouths from this past week. What a damn fine spring break roadtrip it was. Agkistrodon piscivorus, the Northern cottonmouth; Union county, Illinois (21 March 2026). More eco-photography at floridensis.com. #agkistrodonpiscivorus #herps

Alaskan power! Lithobates sylvaticus, the Wood frog; Anchorage, Alaska (06 July 2021).

When I lived in Anchorage, Alaska, the wood frog was my *only* local herp. Loved that short season of wood frog activity. Amazing adaptation to the cold.

I've roadtripped the BC/Alberta edge twice in my life. Jasper, Yoho, Banff national parks... Absolutely, fantastically, amazingly incredible. I would love, love, love to get back to that region, and Medicine Lake was one of my favorite spots.

Doomsday Clock - Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists It is 89 seconds to midnight.

This year's #DoomsdayClock announcement is scheduled for January 27th from the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. There's probably some vigorous last-minute revision right now in response to the past few days of utter insanity. We just might jump forward to 60! thebulletin.org/doomsday-clo...

As a Florida swamprat now living in Chicago, I am a deep believer in the annual roadtrip south to get lizard photos. Haven't done Central or South America though. Just the thought peaks my lacertilian cravings.

His subsequent stuff has been particularly landscapish, like habitats. Very ambient. Good soundscapjng (minus the beat and rhythm). More Eno than Club vibe. Solid stuff.

I'm not overly picky or hyper-critical of music, but it's also pretty hard to impress me deeply. Immunity is beyond impressive. It's a perfect, revelatory album with a soundscape like no other. This album is where I go when I feel cornered and need to regroup.
