If Israeli minions will drag Greta by her hair, torment/torture her in front of her comrades and force her to kiss the Israeli flag, imagine what they do to Palestinian children on a daily basis. Remember Israeli cabinet members debated and openly discussed r@ping Palestinians in custody.#Palestine

Why Trauma-Informed Practice Isn’t Enough Beyond ACEs, surface-level empathy, and the illusion of “widening windows.”

Trauma-informed practice that ignores power, carceral systems, neoliberalism & state neglect isn’t care, it’s merely a watered down performance and pacification. We need frameworks that resist carcerality & honour liberation.

Abolitionist Leadership Lessons From My Mentors About a Different way to Lead

Abolitionist “leadership” is about refusing to replicate the same carceral logics we claim to resist.

If we preach harm reduction or trauma-informed care, then we must practice it with each other not just with the ppl we serve.

I wrote about on substack!

If you are incapable or unwilling to see the stark double standard here then, there is simply no hope for you and you will remain a sad and stagnant part of the problem. The veil has cracked and you will one day reckon with your own heart

charlie kirk has received infinitely more sympathy and support from liberals than every single trans person, immigrant, and palestinian combined

#charliekirk sympathizers are a whole level of delusional. I’m sorry but we’re 500 years too late to cry “violence isn’t the answer” atleast 7 ppl on my fb unfriended me today and frankly I’m mindblown that there were ppl still on my list who pandered to white nationalist violence

Crime doesn’t arise from a lack of morality, it arises from a lack of access.
Private property hoards resources, then criminalizes the hungry.
We don’t need more punishment.
We need to end the system that values property over people.

When police enforcement ratchets up, so do OD deaths. We know this. It has been studied. Task Force Barrage, VPD & Mayor Sim are our grave-diggers. vancouversun.com/news/local-n...

Good morning friends!

As a harm reductionist, I’ve always been passionate about exploring and unpacking the parts of this work that don’t get talked about nearly enough…the tensions, the contradictions, the things that aren’t in the trainings or the job descriptions. The parts shaped by our histories, by power, by grief, by love.

This Substack is called ‘What They Don’t Teach You About Harm Reduction’

because I want to open up space to reflect on what gets left out when harm reduction becomes institutionalized, professionalized, or stripped of its radical roots. I’ll be writing about the complexities of care work, the violence of systems we’re asked to operate within, and the everyday wisdom of people who use drugs.

Whether you’re deep in this work or just curious, I hope this space offers something nourishing, honesty, analysis, connection.

Our 🖤 story is a bit unique. We met on the street while we were both unhoused and using unregulated supply in the dtes. Our relationship started at Insite.. I always say we’re not more valuable now than we were then. 14 years and 2 kids (son and nibling 11&12 yrs old) later, we’re still here!

Canadian nationalism is a stain on society. It’s simply land theft and exploitation, capitalist colonial fantasy under the guise of democracy and “multiculturalism”

Practicing Conflict Differently An abolitionist piece about transformative conflict within our movements

It’s here. I poured my heart into this piece on transformative conflict rooted in abolition, healing, and care. It’s free to read because care should be accessible. If it resonates, sharing or supporting means the world to me.

With deep love + solidarity,

Heather

Unsanctioned overdose prevention site opens in Comox Valley A group of doctors has once again set up an unsanctioned overdose prevention site, this time at the Comox Valley Hospital.

Demonstrating that this not an "urban issue" but one that affects communities big and small, we're live today (and all this week) in Courtenay-Comox!
