I was pleased to welcome The Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, to the University of Wolverhampton’s city campus in my constituency of Wolverhampton West yesterday.
This includes the amazing Gurbax Kaur, a local community campaigner whom I invited as my guest to enjoy the festivities.
I am looking forward to attending lots more Vaisakhi events over the next few weeks.

An immense pleasure to visit 10 Downing Street for a Vaisakhi Reception with our Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
It was great to celebrate with my fellow Sikh MPs and Sikhs from all walks of life, who contribute so much to their local communities.
This increased funding will encourage more visits from children and families, support community engagement and ensure the libraries remain sustainable and well-used for years to come.
This fund aims to support library services in England to upgrade buildings and technology to respond to the changing ways people are using them, ensuring they are fit for purpose.

And the good news continues!
The City of Wolverhampton Council has been given an extra £270,000 through the Libraries Improvement Fund (LIF).
Over the coming weeks, I look forward to visiting Gurdwaras and attending Nagar Kirtans to celebrate the birth of the Khalsa.
I am incredibly proud to be part of one of the largest Sikh communities in the UK. Vaisakhi is a time when Sikhs and others come together to mark faith, history, and community.

A very productive discussion with Dr Mahuya Kanjilal from the University of Wolverhampton on a pilot knife crime study she is conducting.
Tackling Knife Crime remains one of my top priorities as the local MP, and I will have campaign updates on this topic very soon!
I even got to put on some scrubs and watch a Cataract surgery in action!

A fantastic visit to SpaMedica Wolverhampton to meet the dedicated team delivering vital NHS eye care for people across the Black Country.
It’s encouraging to see how high-quality, community-based services are helping cut waiting lists and improve access for patients locally.
I was particularly pleased to meet and chat with former Wolves player Steve Daley, who I met for the first time!
