also also! because passage of arms isn't a skill given by job quests, I headcanon that meteor invented it in honor of haurchefant as well. protecting others by raising his shield in the same way he once protected him

the latter headcanon is based on the concept of endwalker kind of retracing steps (hence the opening title being called "footfalls") and ties into meteor revisiting that grief and turning it into a reason to keep going
