The average person doesnโt give a fuck if AI has some niche use where it actually excels if used properly. In fact, that is what a tool is *supposed* to do and none of us will have a problem if it is used like that. What we see is AI fucking up real life in a massive way.
I've been thinking about the backlash Marie Kondo got and I think part of it was not just that she was saying "buy less shit" she was explicitly say "only buy what actually makes you happy" and in a nation of conspicuous consumption it pissed people off.
