The Magic of the West Coast Main Line
You should certainly be featuring some of Scotland’s most exciting under the radar poets and not the usual suspects….
You love Keats and me! Irish and Ayrshire experience next: bank robberies, violence and poets mistaken for Frenchies Englanders and thieves. I’ll take you with me! Thanks again! Funder still open for chapters to come!

Second time rejection by CS for mad book on Keats tour of Scotland. Boo to them. So here’s a crowdfunder. I’ve spent my life skint for one reason or another, if you are, pass this on to a millionaire.

The fourth poem highlighting the seventh anniversary of the Hampden Collection is by the current Hampden Collection curator @hugemcm.bsky.social , where he contemplates the ghosts of long gone supporters gathered still in the ghost of Cathkin Park.
Delighted that my poem ‘War’ has been selected by @aoifelyall.bsky.social as one of the 2023 Best Scottish Poems.
Thanks to @byleaveswelive.bsky.social and the wonderful Drunk Muse Press who published it
A lovely way to round off the year
Congratulations to all the other poets on the list too!

John Duncan is now on my wall. ‘Jeanne D’Arc et sa Garde Ecossaise’. Designed the Witches Well on Edinburgh Castle esplanade commemorating all the women unfairly prosecuted and persecuted in Lothian. A butcher’s boy from Dundee.
Seven marvellous poetry videos to celebrate the Hampden Collection from Hampden Makars past and present, topped off by a poem from the new Makar of Scotland himself, Peter MacKay!

It’s not Christmassy but here’s my Xmas poem dedicated to delivery drivers everywhere!
It’s like Slade’s ‘are you hanging up your stockings on the wall?’ How are you meant to do that? Do you drive a nail in? No way should these folk be making millions without resolving these fundamental issues of plausibility
How come the snowman brings the snow in that song? How does that work?
The Nith raging tonight
If you love poetry, the art of poetry, and the art of thoughtful poetry critique, I suggest a read of this book review. A masterclass in how to express a deep and generous love of the art of poetry. I also love Diverted To Split but could never in a million years say why like George Gunn does here.
Did you know Alexander Trocchi was about to be expelled from school in Gatehouse of Fleet when the headmaster found out that his Great Uncle was in the running to become Pope?
It was great being involved in judging these fantastic Saltire poetry books but yesterday I was in two primary schools in Gourock and poetry was spilling out of the weans like rain and I’m thinking that’s where the rewards are, too.
Glasgow People! Come to this event tomorrow! Brilliant stories from Gerry Cambridge, Kirsten MacQuarrie, poems from me, Eleanor Tennyson, Julie McNeill
Legendary line up. Free of charge! Jim Carruth introducing!
