Oh, that’s totally understandable. I stay far away from woocommerce whenever possible

Block theme or classic theme? I find that classic themes are super-clean and easy, but block themes are just...what you said
I'm only here because Claude is broken, and I can't get my robot to talk to other robots on LinkedIn
I updated my website. So that's a thing, I guess.
New Year’s resolution shortlist:
1. Make a living
2. Fewer mince pies
I’m a simple man
Nothing strikes fear into my heart more than ‘can we just pop into B&M on the way?’
I know it might feel like the world is on the brink of disaster, but I just found a mars bar I thought my kids had eaten. It’s the little things
Well, I guess Lando now knows exactly how wide his car is #f1
Here’s what Stitch did the second time around, basically ignoring most of what my prompt asked for
So as long as clients continue to trust professional designers to do their thing, I guess us devs will be ok. For now
For instance, I gave Lovable, Bolt and Stitch a prompt (designed by ChatGPT) for a simple business website:
- Lovable: crashed twice, then served up garbage.
- Bolt: designed something that looks exactly like a Bootstrap template, with very little imagination.
- Stitch: did ok, but still not great
I think the one thing we still have going for us as web folk is AI does a fairly shoddy job at designing websites. The code is ‘acceptable’ in most cases but I could design better UIs. And I’m not a designer
Doing a bit of reflection today, wondering about the state of my WordPress business. I know the work I do is good and my clients are happy, but it’s not going to be long before AI can do it all. Scary times when you’re too old to re-train. Le sigh
And all we really wanted was a horizontal rule in Apple Notes
ChatGPT is like a slightly disappointed parent:
Hey ChatGPT, I made this thing! Do you like it?
It’s great! Now let’s put it in a drawer and never speak of it again. Also, here’s a Mona Lisa I painted on my lunch break.
It would be a dirty trick, but you could always create a paid add-on plugin just for classic users
Ok, I’ll stop moaning about Etsy and get back to work.
Also, if any digital marketers, branding agencies or SEOs are looking for a human being to code their designs, please get in touch. Ta
Look at this. I’m a middle aged man interested in woodworking and random nerd stuff. And this is what Etsy shows me. It’s not even close
Etsy’s new homepage design really does nothing to inspire confidence as a seller. How hard can it be to curate products I might actually want to buy?
Fix up an old house, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. It is not fun at all
I’m convinced my local council have someone who drives from one end of town to the other. If they do it in less than 10 minutes, management orders roadworks
Let me know when it’s done. I’ve been waiting to make a bestest-thing-ever fork of something
#typography nerds, let me know if you want a copy of this masterpiece
Standard printer test page every time I load new ink
I bought a guitar and learned 2 chords. I’m basically a rockstar. Also, my fingers hurt
The only thing I can think of is building a web scraper, but this either involves hiring someone to build it for you, or spending many hours ‘maybe’ getting it to work in an automation app. Either way, not quick, and not painless
Eek, that’s a daunting task. Sorry, I don’t have any brilliant ideas for migrating it
Is your content available on the wayback machine? If not, that snapshot they provided you may have access to static pages of text. You’d still have to copy paste, but at least you’d have your content
I like WordPress. A lot of developers and users don’t. And that’s ok, we can still be friends.
Reddit: no we fucking can’t
