The famous Black Bands - otherwise known as the Toon Army...
Posts by Tom Connolly
Haven't decided yet - going to be trying Pike and Shotte on Thursday, also interested in Furioso. May have to make something of my own though!
This is a total area of about 4' by 2.5' - plans are for about 6x4 in total though to give a broader landscape
Once you get the hang of what to paint and what not to paint, it's super quick
3mm Italian Wars miniatures on a miniature landscape of Italy.
3mm Italian Wars project up to date - still to do: black bands, more landsknechts, more missile troops, Spanish Jinetes.
120x60, largely
Not sure yet - plan is possibly to cram together the bits I like from furioso and pike and shotte into a hybrid!
Gendarmes and ranged troops for the 3mm Italian Wars, in front of a tiny castle
Added a Swiss Pike Keil to my 3mm Italian Wars - these are monumentally quick to do with the paint pens!
3mm Landsknechts - pleased with these, although the quality of the 3d files is so nice you get tempted to do far too much!
Some psychotic break must have occurred, because I'm attempting landsknechts in 3mm!
First use of acrylic paint pens - plus a stupid go at an imperial eagle.
Avoid the ones that are supposed to be for cars and they're not too expensive. I've found you have to spray from as many angles as possible to get a convincing effect
Sure, big patches of the first three (there is a Halfords version of almost the exact same colour), then an angled overspray of the last over everything - like a highlight.
I am not at #salute53 like all the cool kids - so I've finished off some new 2mm terrain for Strength and Honour. Particularly pleased with the temple complex, and will be making some new woods in the future.
I've got a template for it - doing every other spot, so 15x15cm boxes
That's the stuff - various Halfords paints and a Dunelm blanket!
Yeah, I've done that before - just a little dot with a decent pen and it works on a cloth mat
It's mat time! Going to mark out a subtle grid tomorrow for games of Strength and Honour / To the Strongest!
Couldn't help but read 'Eurocrates' as an Ancient Greek name there...
Battle before the walls of Troy!
I've added the first Trojans to my collection, including massed ranks of Trojan Spearmen, the armoured Royal Guard and the first of the Trojan Allies - this time Anatolian allies, represented by Hittites.
Still planning other allied contingents and many chariots.
15mm Mycenaean Infantry before the walls of Troy
I've retouched and improved my Achaeans.
I wasn't initially planning on doing chariots because Homer only depicts them being used for the heroes - but I've changed my mind and will be doing a mythologised mix of all Mycenaean periods - pikemen and the later infantry and chariots at the same time!
Some more Arthurian types - 15mm Forged in Battle Miniatures
The Temple - mainly painted with spray paints and an oil wash. It's a big fella!
For me it's a temple - but I don't object to any interpretations!
Gonna take a bit of work, but the centre piece for my Greek project has arrived!
It's even sillier (good thing), which I didn't think possible
28mm Ancients battlefield. Includes buildings, fields, a river, olive groves etc.
Current progress on the Ancients project. Still want to improve the river, and there's a centrepiece structure on the way.
(Not to mention needing to paint a load more Greeks!)
