I've been a little slow about posting here, but my book launch is TONIGHT and it's now available: ciderpressreview.com/product/girl... Also available in-store at Brazos Bookstore and coming soon to more independent bookstores. So happy it's out in the world!
I will also be the featured reader at Inprint's First Friday Reading Series at 7 p.m. Friday, April 3, 1520 West Main. Please scan the QR code to RSVP for either event. Would love to see you!
BOOK LAUNCH UPDATES: My debut collection, GIRL FILLING THE SKY, comes out next month! If you are local to Houston, I have two book launch events where I will be signing books (as well as reading). Official book launch is Saturday, Feb. 28, 6:30 p.m. at Brazos Bookstore, 2421 Bissonnet Street. 🧵
Exciting news! My debut poetry collection, GIRL FILLING THE SKY, arrives Feb 2026! You can either pre-order via the link in my bio or join my book launch event at Brazos Bookstore, Houston, Saturday, Feb. 28. More details soon! #PoetryCollection #BookLaunch
I didn't word this very well and can't edit--I have a book coming out in February. I sure would love to join a reading at AWP somewhere! I'm not well known but it's a book I'm proud of!
Anyone looking for an emerging poet with a first full-length poetry collection coming out to read at an AWP offsite? #awp
Continues to be the worst timeline
lol at “diggity”
Ooh that sounds nice
My parents used to say that I should have a bumper sticker that said “Warning: driver in creative trance.” Anyway, I’m a poet with late-diagnosed ADHD, imagine that 😂
That's what I did in grad school just a few years ago (granted, this was an MFA program). Tons of reading and then seminars. And a book a week as an English major in undergrad, too. College students should be reading!
It feels very strange to have a poetry book coming out soon during these bizarre times. I need to remember that art still matters, that it always matters. That's why people try to censor it.
Keep making art.
Are those balloons?
I was thinking the same thing. Isn’t that what most of us did at that age?
Fanny Howe described the poetic realm as a place "where the sleeping witness finally feels safe enough to lie down in mystery." So beautiful and foundational for me. RIP to her.
For me too!
My body literally feels weighed down.
The collective trauma we carry as Texans just keeps growing. It all feels too heavy to carry sometimes.
Same except as a Texan, we experience it every single time there's a disaster here. Gleeful wishes for our destruction. (I didn't vote for this and a bunch of us in blue areas of the state didn't either, for the record. Neither do children).
Thank you, yes. As a (blue) Texan I have been arguing with people all morning about this and it's exhausting.
Worth a try, thanks
The challenge is they’re not answering their phones and their voice mails are full—at least that’s true in my rep’s case. I’ll keep trying.
That feeling is the BEST. I’m a reader at a journal and I live for that feeling!
I know one of the people in this group--she has fought so hard against Medicaid cuts. It's truly appalling the way this group is being treated.
Haven't really been posting here because hardly anyone sees it, but I sang on a stage for the first time since 2009 last night. I was so nervous, but that just means I need to do it more. Got to find joy where we can now.
Last I checked, AI poetry was uniformly terrible, so no!

Honestly same
Ugh!
