Just finished reading The Hobbit and I am sad that it’s over. And I’m sad that I’m not a hobbit. I’m meant to be a hobbit.

I’ve been sick for 17days now with the lovely “super flu” and my poor dog is getting so tired of taking care of me hahaha. She’s so annoyed I’m still awake coughing. Doing big irritated sighs and following me when I came upstairs to drink hot liquids. She is the best 🥹💕

I have to frog the last few nights worth of crocheting on the skull granny square cardigan I’m working on. Part of me wants to just leave it and carry on. But I know I’m not gonna be happy with it, and I’ve already put so much work into it that I don’t want to just half ass it right at the end.

Man it’s so disheartening to spend hours on something just to get literally nowhere with it and have to start over. Especially when there’s a timeline 😫

Also ate in a restaurant for the first time since celiac diagnosis today. This restaurant has been hyped up to me as being super celiac safe and apparently the chef is celiac. So I was pretty happy to try it out. But now I’m so sick 😢 I don’t even know if it’s from there or what. Crappy celiac day

Second attempt at gluten free sourdough. I tried two different flour blends. The heart scored one is with bobs red mill 1to1 and the other is with “only goodness” brand gf flour. The heart one was improved from first try but still not great. The other one is not edible at all haha. Bit discouraged 🫤

Well my gluten free sourdough turned out not too bad!! I needed to bake it for much longer, very gummy and doughy inside. Also a bit salty for me taste. But not a complete fail for my first try! Definitely some good lessons learned for my next try.

Oh that does sound amazing! I will have to do a focaccia! I did notice that all the most beautiful looking loaves had olive oil in the recipe which is not part of the gluten recipe, so it’s interesting you say that!

I’ve been doing my starter with brown rice flour, and for my dough I’m trying out the Bobs Red Mill 1 to 1 gluten free flour blend this time! I have been trying to find the King Arthur gluten free bread flour because of all the loaves I’ve seen online, the KA ones look the best.

I’m making my first attempt at gluten free sourdough today/tomorrow!
I’m cautiously optimistic…
So far the starter behaves a lot differently than the gluten one.
It’s kinda fun to feel like I’m a newbie starting fresh again.
We’ll see how fun I still think it is when I see the finished loaf haha

I’m 12 days into the worst flu I have ever had and I’m *just* starting to feel marginally better. I feel like I’ve been missing in a strange void the last couple weeks with barely any sleep due to constant coughing fits and pain. The days all meld together, consciousness coming and going. Weird haha
