A four panel meme from "The White Lotus," S3, Ep,6, Panel 1: Saxton: Why can't you just like my geneative A*I art?
Panel 2: Chelsea: You have to be vulnerable enough to be bad at something to be good at it, but you're too much of a coward.
Panel 3: Chelsea: Because you're soulless.
Panel 4: Saxton disassociating

Another day filled with rage and disappointment as garbage men continue to make everything worse, dangerous, untenable, unjust, fearful, hateful, and willfully stupid.

i think half of "talent" is just a person happening to have fun doing whatever it is they're supposedly talented at, and not hating it. i was "talented" at art at age 3 but if i'd stopped drawing at age 3 because i found it tedious or unrewarding, i'd probably pretty much draw like a 3-year-old now

Every artist secretly wants to create something they would have loved as kids.

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

I need to make some really incredibly niche and upsetting art, like, right now, or I need to start getting drunk at 9:30 AM. Not sure which

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

TikTok is back but like, in the way your long lost son appears on your doorstep after a mysterious disappearance & he looks & sounds the same but he’s harboring a dark secret and ok lemme turn off Lifetime

Sometimes you pour pancake batter onto the skillet and realize immediately “wellp, that’s gonna be an ugly one.”

I think art and writing goes the same way.

you can try to fix it while it fries, learn and pour a better one next time, or find the person who wants to eat it in all its ugliness

As an artist, I've learned that the better you are at drawing something, the simpler your line work becomes. You would think that better=more complicated, but from my experience, the opposite is true. Simple descriptive lines are insanely difficult because they have to describe the shape within.

When I had covid way back when, it permanently changed what chocolate smells and tastes like. It's ass now. If I had known that there was a finite amount of chocolate that I would enjoy in this lifetime, I would have eaten so much more chocolate. I should have posted more stupid tiktoks.

which is replying to a tweet from @alz_zyd reading "Personally, I read a bunch of classics in high register in college. I guess it was fun. I recently ChatGPT'd Aristotle into readable English, finished it around 5x as fast as a translation, and felt l got the main gist of things. idk does the pain incurred…"

Followed by a a reblog from tumblr use moonglade-poetess reading "Hey guys, with so much love, and as someone with an actual English degree:

Please just use Sparknotes if you're going to do this. I get it. I do. But chatgpt or other genAl shit doesn't actually know what's important for you to know, and in some cases it might fully make shit up. Use sparknotes. Failing that, talk to someone who did read it. I'm begging.

So deeply not kidding when I say that the current paradigm of "Gen AI" is doing deep, lasting harm to our ability to make knowledge, meaning, & truth w/ each other.

Like… it's really fucking us up & if we don't stop it soon we're gonna see a kind of negative chaos frankly unimaginable to most ppl 👍🏾

The way you can tell AI is going really well is that Google had to force it on everyone with a workspace account and hide the button to turn it off
