General George Washington required Continental Army soldiers be inoculated for smallpox. We would not have won independence if he hadn’t.
You dumb chucklefuck.
Here we go again.

Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

Also note that you provided zero space to actually send your speakers challenging questions. Emily Oster is facilitating a discussion with Bhattacharya and they are both on the same team. JB is never going to have to answer for his dishonesty.
I want to once again shout out attorneys like @doritreiss.bsky.social and @weparmet.bsky.social for their endless dedication to fighting for public health through the courts.
The process can be slow, but progress is happening.
Dear Professor Milkman,
Don't censor your speakers.
Honestly inform your audience of their COVID disinformation and MAHA/MAGA boosterism.
Simply be honest and show their videos.
If you don't, you'll forever be known as an enabler and accomplice.
My latest.
Trump's Budget Director Russ Vought just REFUSED to tell me how much of YOUR taxpayer dollars Trump has already spent on his war of choice with Iran.
That's outrageous. It's literally his job to know, and the American people deserve answers!
I am a cardiologist like him and we are not all this incompetent
When Silicon Valley says it is ‘‘moving fast and breaking things,’’ the world interprets the chaos as a necessary cost of innovation. But it's something far more sinister: a decades-long campaign to replace elected governments with corporate rule.

Peter Thiel and Balaji Srinivasan are funding an app to attack journalists.
Getting smeared by "Objection AI" will become a badge of honor for reporters.
I'm glad to see them deepening their relationship just in time for my book, which exposes that very subject.
"The Nerd Reich" drops 8/18/26.
@politico.com misleads once again. This was just click-bait from them based on shoddy polling methods. communityimmunity.substack.com/p/headlines-...

The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world.
Jay simply blocks people he disagrees with
Emily ignores people she disagrees with
They want the libertarian way or the highway.
Science was never my way or the highway (nor was it a game of the best disinformation wins)
Hey this reminds me of that time CBER Director Vinay Prasad forced FDA scientists to withdraw a manuscript on a similar topic from the journal I edit. Now it’s Podcast Jay’s turn!
The actual standards for Gold Standard Science are unclear besides “vaccines bad, corruption good”

We’re about to pay Iran $6 billion to re-open the thing that was open before the war.
Art of the deal, baby.
If you asked those who were ecstatic yesterday and couldn't take their eyes off of it, you'd find support.
Trump's gotta go.

The company behind ChatGPT recruited Washington’s war insiders — then turned their connections into Pentagon contracts.
"The content that gets “engagement” on Twitter is mostly complete crap" writes Nate Silver, who has rerun a January-April update on what gets engagement on X in 2026. "Catturd literally gets far more engagement than the New York Times, for instance".
NYTimes Headline: The Women Who Believe That Women Should Lose the Right to Vote Subhead: Adherents to biblical patriarchy support household voting: One household, one vote--the husband's. They say the idea is catching on.
The New York Times rolling up its sleeves to do the hard work of normalizing the idea that women should not have the right to vote.
Pam Bondi was fired largely because Donald Trump grew dissatisfied with her inability to deliver on prosecuting his perceived enemies, sources tell me.
"But widespread layoffs, hiring freezes and resignations have shrunk the number of qualified scientists who can assist state labs...By July, the rabies team will be down to just one person with the clinical expertise to advise state and local officials, and the pox virus team will have none."
Gift.
Incredibly Jeffrey Tucker, the child labor advocate behind the Great Barrington Declaration seems displeased by everything he worked so hard to create.
