A Cryptography Engineer’s Perspective on Quantum Computing Timelines The risk that cryptographically-relevant quantum computers materialize within the next few years is now high enough to be dispositive, unfortunately.

@filippo.abyssdomain.expert's article is this year most important reading in cyber security. Most of your processes and tools are impacted, because they most likely use rapidly obsoleting cryptography under the hood, if you think they are not it's likely a blind spot. words.filippo.io/crqc-timeline/

People in Serbia and abroad are calling BS on this. Aleksandar Olenik, a lawyer and vice president of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV), said that the police action near Kažnjiža represented bad theatrics and an attempt by Aleksandar Vučić to save Viktor Orban from electoral defeat.

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

Folks sharing the Western Journal article about an interview with Andy Weir: WJ is a right-wing rag, and the quote being attributed to Weir about “wokeness” is taken from the person interviewing the author, not Weir (it’s right in the text). The title is rage-bait. Don’t fall for psy ops.

Ukraine fired its NATO trainers. The alliance is running out of time to learn why. - Euromaidan Press Ukraine pulled troops from allied training after its experts wiped out NATO battalions and sank a frigate in exercises. Russia built its doctrine around the same conclusion.

This is a brutal assessment of NATO forces and their failure to adapt to the modern battlefield as seen in Ukraine - and of Russia's response. Well worth a read.

If one has a better listening experience trying expensive cables, even if it's due to variations in the ear itself, it's easy to become convinced the cable did it. Plus lack of knowledge in experimental protocols to control for bias.

I think there is also something else, a friend forked in a high end audio shop during his studies, and people seemed convinced of the oddest things, like cables sounding better in one direction than the other. My guess is that the ear itself can sound different from one listening to the other. 1/2

Comparison of $4,000 boutique audio cable to $7 Amazon Basics cable shows audiophiles waste a lot of money — scientific audio equipment analysis with analyzer shows no difference in quality 'Black Pearl solid silver conductors drawn in diamond coated dies and insulated with virgin FEP dielectric' doesn't help.

And yet fools still buy stuff like audio grade Ethernet cables. Really makes you wonder how people that dumb came into the money in the first place. www.tomshardware.com/pc-component...
