I think Scott said he has his brother in this, I could be mistaken on that.

DRIVE remains one of the best North American made martial arts movies ever made. Dacascos and Hardison are terrific together. The choreography and action direction by Koichi Sakamoto is chef’s kiss. An absolute action classic!!

Yujata name drop in the title card, I looked to my wife and said “Max is vindicated” then I felt Liam make fun of me from afar.

Action heroes, normal jobs Are they working hard or hardly working?

Here is my latest piece for Polygon. In honor of “The Accountant 2,” I rank 20 films about working class action heroes. But the rank is not by quality, it’s by how much the heroes’ job affects the movie itself. It’s all a bit tongue in cheek but I’m very proud of it.- www.polygon.com/action/55176...

I said the same thing about the cabin scene reminding me of RE4 to my friend as we were watching it

The action takes a minute to kick in but when it does it is fast, frenetic and lots of red blood mist. Lots of good character actors pop up and Michelle Waterson makes for a good heavy throughout. Looking forward to revisiting in the future

Gareth Evans long awaited film is his homage to the heroic bloodshed genre though he does get some gnarly hand to hand action in that he’s known for. Hardy is great and I liked the story. I felt like there were some character beats missing that would have pushed it into the next level for me.

It honestly reminded me of The Crow in that respect.

I had a lot of fun with this, clever concept that was well executed. I like that Landon is in on the joke.

Following up The Raid the first fight scene of part 2 had to be amazing and mission accomplished. The tension is palpable and the action so inventive showing the close quarters effectiveness of Iko using his surroundings along with Evan’s camera work and visceral violence. 🤌🏻🤌🏻

The jump roll always gets me, unforgettable theater experience. Saw it twice in one weekend.

Still one of my favorite fight scenes from The Raid. The moment it cuts to Iko jumping on the table I’m in action movie heaven. Amazing camera movement, fast and furious blocking and tracking followed by an awesome fall as the exclamation mark to the scene! Masterclass.

I know it’s very niche but man this would be ripe for an ongoing show. Lots of material to pull from and it’s mainly short stories so could do 10 episode seasons of 2-3 episode arcs. There is a ton of lore and it’s all just so weird but familiar.

Caught this screening last night, this movie holds a special spot for me as it was the first anime I ever saw. Quality of the transfer was good but bit blurry in some shots. It was a new dub that was……..not great. Was disappointed about that but still had a good time.
