Here they're going to be building something themselves that they will need to maintain or it stops working, which means *they* lose money, because all generated electricity is just fed into the network. Nobody is going without if it doesn't work.

As I've said to others - it's obvious that what MacQuarie did with water was shitty, because they bought existing infrastructure and didn't invest or maintain it.

Any proposed local/community model will fail immediately and if the government gets involved, either they put pennies in for every pound needed or it's done out of general taxation.

If private or foreign investment (who, yes, will siphon off *profits*, because that's what most businesses would do) aren't paying for it, who is..?

Macquarie & Co. were dickbags for their water company acquisitions but the problem there was they bought infrastructure and didn't maintain it - here they're creating their own solar projects and selling the energy they generate - if it breaks and stops generating, they lose money.

But the problem is this is 'perfect is the enemy of the good' - someone needs to front the money and no 'community' fund is going to supply the cash to build something at the scale needed to be worth while.

Obviously most GP practices are run as private entities who employ their GPs, but are also owned by at least *some* of them (often older/incumbent GPs).

More GPs in a practice means the funding cake is shared amongst more people.

But that's not necessarily true. There are thousands of newly qualified GPs unable to find a place to practice...

To be fair, any local facebook group would reveal that 'not enough GPs/Dentists/School Spaces' is always the *initial* reason rolled out, so forcing people to openly admit to the prejudices by cutting the easy moan off is an idea.
