In Nara, Japan, sika deer roam freely among cherry blossoms, creating a breathtaking scene each spring. These sacred creatures enjoy the beauty of hanami season too.

Social Transition Changes in gender expression whereby the child or young person presents to others in line with societally expected indications of gender identity different to that of their natal sex is known as 'social transition'. This can be partial or in all forms and aspects of daily life. Appearance and behaviours (interests/activities or presentations socially defined and typically associated with another gender) are usually initiated by children or young people and often supported and facilitated by adults. The ability to express individuality and autonomy to change and adapt self-expression over time can be important to a child or young person's development and wellbeing. However, the social and psychological impact that social transition may have, means that advice may be sought of clinicians within The Service. Social transition should be recognised as a significant decision and therefore, while it is not a clinical intervention, it will often be become a significant and valid subject within an individual's care. While there are different views on the benefits versus the harms of childhood social transition, it is important to acknowledge that it is not a neutral act and that information is needed about long-term outcomes to support decision making. Information and discussion about this with the MDT are important within care for a child or young person in The Service. At the point of presentation to The Service some children and young people will have already socially transitioned or be in the process of effecting a social transition, while others may be considering this. It is important that the risks and benefits of social transition are discussed with the child or young person and family, referencing best available evidence. Decisions will be individual, and the agency to make the decision rests with the young person, along with their family. Individual autonomy to change or cease social transition is an important part of the discussion. This service …
The NHS is LYING about trans children and social transition.
There is no evidence WHATSOEVER that social transition is in any respect harmful.
There is however plenty of evidence that preventing social transition (otherwise known as conversion therapy) causes long-term psychological damage.

Astronomical space art ideally shows something of what is known about the subject as well as what it is about the subject one finds visually appealing. This is a scan of an illustration in the classic book 'The Conquest of Space' by Willy Ley and Chesley Bonestell. Earth is covering the Sun, with Bonestell's very narrow version of the Zodiacal Light extending from behind Earth on both sides. The moonlit Earth shows Africa and the reflection of the Moon on the oceans. A suggestion of cloud detail shows a latitudinal detail bias that was common in his Earth portrayals. In the orientation of the visual elements this painting, done a lifetime ago, carried forward a vision that has just been seen by human eyes and photographed with state of the art equipment. #Sciart
Space art in its roots has been an effort to anticipate sights that future space travelers may one day see. In the late 1940s Chesley Bonestell painted a moonlit Earth that appeared in 'The Conquest of Space'. This modest work shows a view broadly similar to that revealed in the new Artemis photo.

A sketch of a cute, stylized bunny done with rainbow pencil. It’s sitting with its feet folded up, paws tucked in, and has a sweet, tiny face. Other bunny doodles surround it.

An image of Earth backlit by a mostly hidden sun, with a bright pinpoint of light to the bottom right of the disk.
The upper right corner of the image shows the blackness of space. Below and to the left lies a slice of Earth's atmosphere, decorated by a squiggle of exhaust plume.
A photograph taken inside a space vehicle, centered on a half-disk view of Earth seen out the capsule's window.
At the top of the image is a portion of the International Space Station. In the center of the image is a mostly lit moon. At the bottom of the image is a fuzzy view of Earth's atmosphere.
🚀🌔 Stunning views from NASA’s Artemis II mission and the International Space Station showcase Earth, the moon and even Venus, captured during humanity’s first crewed lunar mission since 1972. 🚀🌔 Follow all our mission coverage here: spklr.io/6001EyN07
Love how this image captures the mission's "For All Humanity" motto. There are no borders in space!
But to get oriented a bit better, here is a version I annotated.
Still can't wrap my head around how amazing this picture, the Artemis crew took, is.

I will say this again: Science isn’t just something that nerds do, it’s the foundation of the modern world.
It’s why this app exists. It’s why child mortality rate isn’t 50% anymore. It’s how we’re able to launch people to the moon. It’s how we’re able to grow food that feeds half the world.
"How can Keir Starmer & his Labour Government be so unimaginative and lacking in boldness? All they need to do is look at how angry people are, look at how much people are suffering. Maybe they don’t understand it. Maybe they just don’t care."

A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)
More context on this #Artemis II image:
* This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right
* The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon:

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue is about to go on an angry rant, as Green raises his tail to halt him. Blue: And don't get me started on- Green: Wait! Before you start... Blue frowns at Green as Green looks at him calmly. Green: Do you want solutions, or do you just want to complain? Blue: Can I just complain? Blue looks surprised as Green looks over his shoulder. Green: Sure, but let me make myself some popcorn first. As Green leaves, Blue looks stunned towards the direction that he left. Blue: I may do some warm-up screams while I wait. Green, already off-screen: Just don't start without me!

Wow--stunning filament eruption with associated long-duration C6.1 flare off the Sun's southeast quadrant around 2026-04-01 17 UT which produced a notable CME in coronagraph imagery.
Earth actually may get clipped by the eastern edge of the eruption early on April 4.
