Some things that stood out to me in this Brooke Pinto mailer we just got at our W4 home.
First, this jaw dropper: the return address for this campaign mailer is her COUNCIL address! 😳

A “juvenile curfew zone” has been announced for my neighborhood, encompassing schools and the rec center, for tonight through Sunday. It’s spring break for most DC kids.
Big investigation about a very secretive institution

We are sending a letter to DDOT asking what they are doing to make the Kansas, Georgia, and Upshur intersections safer. Several months after Kenny was killed there have been no safety improvements & no indication anything will change.
You can and your name to our letter: bit.ly/KansasAndUpshur
With a final tally of 213-214, the war powers resolution to disengage US forces from the war on Iran failed by a single vote.
Representative Jared Golden of Maine was the sole Democratic lawmaker to vote against the measure. Had he voted for it, it would have passed, handing Trump an historic loss.
An ADSBx map showing Journey’s N62FF going from Mesa AZ to Shannon airport in Ireland.
HEADS-UP, IRELAND: A likely ICE flight has just landed at Shannon again, likely to refuel before delivering shackled migrants to god-knows-where.
This is the same plane that sent migrants to Uganda — a country they had never been to before — on April 1.

A dark navy blue header banner for a DC FY2027 Budget website. The title "DC FY2027 Budget" appears in large, bold yellow-green text. Below it, a subheading reads "Proposed Budget and Financial Plan" in white bold text, followed by a description: "An interactive explorer of Washington DC's proposed $12.7 billion general funds budget for Fiscal Year 2027. Data sourced from the DC CFO and Mayor's budget submission." At the bottom, smaller gray text notes it is an "Independent explorer built by Josh Jacobson" with hyperlinks to Bluesky and Twitter, and a disclaimer that it is "Not affiliated with the DC government."
The Mayor's proposed FY2027 budget is public ... as a stack of PDFs most people don't want to search through, cross-reference, or analyze. This annoyed me last year, so this year I prepped something that is easier to go through.
I was picking up Paved Paradise (great book) from @loyaltybooks.bsky.social and they were excited they caught me and asked if they could give me a recommendation. Of course! They shared Sidewalk Nation by @michaelcpollack.bsky.social is coming out in June. Local bookstores are a treasure.
What is a West Side mandrill.

In the race for D.C.'s congressional delegate, Brooke Pinto has received nearly $170k from donors with histories of giving to Donald Trump and other Republicans.

Important for DC to understand about our existing Flock cameras.
Since the headline is a bit confusing, the NYT is reporting that on the same day we hit the girl's school in Minab, we also sent a missile full of tungsten steel pellets at a girl's volleyball tournament hundreds of miles away in Lamerd. Twenty one dead.

Oooh, new tool to look at DC's proposals for where we will build new housing in the future. It's interesting how many gaps there are that seem to keep protectionism policies in place for rich residents.
Is this new in the Transit App? Very exciting to see the transfer wait times for all three in one view.
Jaw-dropping admission by DOJ to court.
DOJ admits to having repeatedly made "material mistaken" representations to judge - ICE never had authority (under 2025 Guidance) to conduct arrests at immigration courthouses!
DOJ admits court "relied on...prior misrepresentations."
DOJ blames ICE (page 2)
Are we sure the Afroman case is not the next season of Jury Duty, given how absurd the police officer's arguments are?
A mailer sent by incumbent Illinois 40th District State Representative Jaime Andrade spreads misinformation about challenger Miguel Alvelo-Rivera.
Jaime Andrade is now running what is almost certainly the most despicable campaign I've seen in Chicago, sending mailers that smear both Miguel and Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, who has endorsed Miguel.
Delia regularly calls for not just ICE but DHS to be abolished: inthesetimes.com/article/deli...
EXCLUSIVE: Surveillance video obtained by an activist shows Liam Conejo Ramos and his father being taken to a detention center in Texas via a Delta Airlines flight, the morning after ICE allegedly used the boy as bait.

New: DC is illegally sitting on $1.6 million meant to help laid off Circulator bus drivers, according to a new lawsuit.
@atulocal689.bsky.social is trying to force the city to comply with a law ordering DC to use the proceeds of Circulator bus sales to help ex-employees:

Screenshot of Councilmember Brooke Pinto's website with text saying: "Chairwoman Pinto’s Secure DC legislation required OUC to create a public dashboard reporting 911 call errors to increase transparency and drive down errors by showing which areas or systems have reported problems"
Fast forward and CM Brooke Pinto who chairs the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee with 911 oversight introduced the Secure DC legislation to mandate public reporting of 911 mistakes and corrective action. The only problem is that 911 has chosen not report all mistakes.
When the interim Director tried to be transparent about systemic issues with the 911 system Mayor Bowser demoted and then fired her leading to a whistleblower lawsuit filed against the Mayor. dcist.com/story/23/03/...
DC's 911 mistakes have been happening for years. The DC Auditor issued a damning report on the mistakes that led to the Director's resignation, and Mayor Bowser attempted to reappoint her. dcauditor.org/report/distr...
🧵 There is something concerning with DC's 911 system that the Mayor Bowser's administration and the DC Council largely are not talking about. 911 dispatchers are making numerous mistakes and underreporting the mistakes.

And it looks like my February bill might actually be even higher due to a Pepco calculation mistake.
Never in a million years did I ever fathom when I resurrected the Epstein story in 2018 that it would lead to first arrest of a British Royal in four centuries. Not since King Charles I was arrested in 1647.
