I watched Colbert's interview with Talarico, because if CBS doesn't want us to see it, it is must-see TV. He has a good message, but it was interesting that no one mentioned that State Rep Talarico is running in a primary against US Rep Jasmine Crockett. I hope that Colbert will also have her on.

The CIA World Factbook is dead. Here's how I came to love it The Factbook survived the Cold War and became a hit online. It mixed quirky cultural notes and trivia with maps, data, and photos taken by CIA officers. But it was discontinued this week.

Eulogy for the CIA World Factbook. I like how NPR just comes out and says that it is dead. Cultural competence is a skill that I strive to teach, now with one less tool. :(

My kids' passport projects/country scavenger hunt will never be the same. This is the second worst resource loss I've faced this year. The first being when Statista's "infographie du jour" decided to only publish in English. Sigh, RIP world languages and learning about other lands.

OK, so after a night of gushing over winter gear but not actually learning anything about the countries in the opening ceremony from the commentary, I learned the most depressing thing this morning: the CIA World Factbook is no more. I used this resource A LOT as a teacher. :(

Ok, I don't usually get angry watching @pbsnews.org PBS news hour, but never book richard grenell ever again. He is so condescending and disrespectful to Amna. This isn't a healthy debate. Ugh.

Microsoft Word used to be the gold standard for office stuff. Here I am trying to spawn a 2026 calendar in Word and it is stuck on 2025. We used to be able to edit the month/year. This is kinda basic functioning. Sigh. Happy New Year! @microsoft.com
