I think she wrote about that place in MTrain—a place she used to always go to have coffee and write…& it has since closed.
@jeffvandermeer.bsky.social Patti Smith just said your name on Substack (when mentioning Twenty Days of Turin). Maybe you already know this. Maybe you’re pals. But I think if Patti Smith says a person’s name, a person should know!
A puzzle works wonders for your racing mind
Saw one crossing the road in front of our house last week. He looked sneaky!
Once more with feeling…
Good morning
I get about ten of these every day, so you must get dozens. So annoying! They’re now impersonating real bookclubs that legitimately exist on Goodreads. But the AI pitches all sound the same, so they’re easy to spot.
Half Moon Bay is showing off tonight. Northern California is my favorite place to be in December.
god bless rob reiner for spinal tap
I’ll never forget his warmth and unpretentiousness. Rob Reiner was the proverbial mensch. May he and his wife rest in peace. His memory will always be a blessing to me from that one small interaction we had. I’m sure he touched people’s lives like this everywhere he went. We’ll miss him.
In an interview, Fulnecky said that people who are bad at their job always get fired & therefore her TA got fired. She apparently hasn't heard of Hegseth, Noem, RFK Jr. or the rest of the clown show. She also said there's "one true God" & it's her God & therefore her paper is good. I mean. Wow.
I spent a significant portion of the 80s playing Frogger. Until Ryan Lizza, it was my all-time favorite Atari game. This is why we can’t have nice things.
Your top-of-the-hour “what my book is about” was so concise & compelling, and I loved hearing about your editorial process with Roxanne (fellow Grove author here, different imprint—they’re such a good home for authors). Gorgeous cover, looking forward to reading RAVISHING!
Debut author @eshanisurya.bsky.social wrote a flash fiction during her MFA that included the seed of an idea for her future novel. Plus insights from lit agent Dana Murphy on why she fell in love with the book

What a treat to see my old friends Kevin Smokler & Susie Hara at Babylon Salon reading series in San Francisco. Their new books are BREAK THE FRAME and EARTHQUAKE SHACK.

This was great! Thanks for putting on another great literary event! 💕 📚
Federal judges have ruled that Trump gave illegal orders.
What Republican Congressperson will stand up to Trump saying Democratic lawmakers should be executed? Anyone?
I just got to escape reality for a while with Wendy Tokunaga’s forthcoming novel, Brenda Barker’s Next Chapter. A terrific novel about a widowed writer pursuing her dreams after middle age. Follow @wendytokunaga.bsky.social for updates. #booksky
Quebec City today
@jeffvandermeer.bsky.social your books in a row at a beautiful little bookshop in Mont Royal neighborhood in Montreal
A terrific review—I’ll definitely be reading Wade’s book!
"the two Democrats won so decisively because they also flipped a crucial sliver of voters who said they supported Mr. Trump in 2024. Ms. Sherrill and Ms. Spanberger both won 7% of Mr. Trump’s supporters..."
I have a feeling GOP gerrymandering in TX may come back to bite them.
In NJ, "Ms. Sherrill won a whopping 18% of Mr. Trump’s Hispanic support..." Democrats didn't just energize Democrat voters on Nov 4th--they flipped Trump voters. Maybe cruelty, chaos, mass layoffs, inflation, & starvation aren't the flex the GOP thinks they are? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/06/u...
A) Gavin is kind of a jerk sometimes but he’s our jerk. B) Trump never looked this good in a white shirt. C) Yes on 50.
