only worsening poverty and toil for the vulnerable.
PIP is already extremely difficult to get and despite how the governmet are framing it, it’s not based on whether or not you work. Removing this “Independence” payment will only make it harder for people to access their workplace and will not result in a bigger workforce…
Despite my political apathy / radicalisation (depends on who you ask), I’m emerging from my pot (yes my latest flight of fantasy is being Diogenes the Dog) asking all of you to please write to your MP and ask them to oppose the disability benefit cuts Starmer is proposing.
I’m sick of the echo chamber of the well-intended. The Ouroubouros of shock and outrage every time things get worse. People using their platform to signal boost content, but taking no action for systemic change.
I’ve been posting less lately because i’m trying to meet my need for affirmation and external validation outside of my phone.
2/2 …the world is burning, our trans family are being dehumanised, noone can afford to heat their homes, we’re committing softcore eugenics by ignoring covid & gently indulging genocide because McDonald’s is too cheap and convenient to BDS. We love you getting in touch but your energy is misplaced.”
1/2 “As representatives of the Buffy Fandom, we know you have eagerly awaited our statement on the death of Michelle Trachtenberg.
“It is very sad.”
And as for the Buffy Reboot
“That’s nice.”
We love losing ourselves in pop culture but unfortunately we need to point out that…
The Potentials convened via Sending Stone for the first time in almost a decade to write a notes app statement on Michelle Trachtenberg’s death, and in the most “us” turn of events possible, none of us could log into our account. The statement is as follows…
The same child has just discovered Ren & Stimpy. He is on the greatest voyage.
My partner: “Do you wanna see Double Indemnity at the Cinema?”
Me: “OMG! I haven’t seen that in years! Why not, it’ll be a laugh!”
Him: “a laugh?”
Me: “Dennis Rodman & Jean Claude Van Damme playing hyper-masc is camp”
Him: “?”
It is not the film I think it is.
Ben Kweller pronounced “Sex reminds her of eating spaghetti” 18 years ago, and yet twee-core men cringe at “macaroni in a pot” during W.A.P?
There’s a microagression in here somewhere.
Finally watched Raggedy Ann & Andy’s Musical Adventure on the advice of a student who has been telling me for months that it’s the greatest film of all time… and it might be the greatest film of all time!
Saccharine and trippy in equal parts.
Thankyou the 70s for not sparing kids of weirdness.
They get to treat events - where the rest of us rawdog our emotions - like any other night on the lash.
What I’m saying is, that they are bad and they should feel bad and should get in the gutter for those of us who feel things.
No yearning or limerence, just another show added to a weaponised list of bands, venues, dates and set lists. They don’t enjoy art or poetry, they pregame and bully each other over football teams, then chant the wrong words to the chorus like a braying mob.
I hate the emo boys who fake fan girled me in my youth even more now they’re 40. Chronic pain and fatigue prevent me from attending shows even when I’ve bought tickets & arranged travel. They get to treat the music that presses the bruises on my heart like bearded-band teed-Ibiza.
Can’t wait to turn 50 and start doing that Baby Jane makeup.
Ultimately, there is no Scream 7 without betraying Melissa Barrera - whose only crime was using her platform to criticise the genocide of the Palestinian people.
I woke my partner up at 6.30 to rant about this.
Sorry all, my rage sort of tapered out into fantasist nerdery again.
Seems like we can just ask for anything. So if we're casting a dreamy fan service movie, then here's what I want -2 hours of Rose McGowan, Parkey Posey & Emma Roberts talking shit and wearing cute outfits on a killing spree. Let’s bring Carrie Fisher back to life to play their Bosley. Sure why not
Then Scott Foley… crickets. Well, first off, nobody asked for this. Either the bullet to the head didn’t kill Roman, or Sydney has a second secret brother, or we’re doing a repeat of Sam’s storyline with the killer relative in the head. No thanks, you barely squared that circle last time.
Wasn’t Lillard at the Abigail premiere supporting Melissa Barerra? I don’t want fan service at the cost of betrayed principles. I love Lillard, he's never done a project I didn't adore. I shit myself over him being on @midnightmasspod.bsky.social last month. Why can't we have nice things?
This morning, I woke up to the post from Matthew Lillard. God love him, he is a notoriously unreliable source, and he’s been fanning the flames of the Stu lives theory at cons for 25 years… But to find out it’s been confirmed by Deadline?
When I saw Mason Gooding had joined the cast for 7 though, it stung, the core 4 are supposedly friends outside of the studios. What a betrayal. Then Jasmine Savoy Brown was announced, fuck, I thought they were cool?
This time, with the exception of Jenna Ortega, everyone who has ever been involved has a price. I have no judgement of Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox - It’s their movie, always has been. Plus I’m uncertain on their political views over this which means they probably don’t care - typical Hollywood.
Sure, my comfort franchise been in hot water before, Neve Campbell walking because they tried to sell her short, Rose McGowan speaking out about the abuse she received from Weinstein, but co-stars always spoke supportively of the wronged party over these issues.
Since Melissa Barerra was fired from Scream 7 for publicly sympathising with Palestinians, I have been holding my tongue, unsure how to engage in discourse. I am excited about the new instalment, but it’s right to support Palestinians, and as such Scream 7 is now irrevocably tied to this issue.
I bought Scream 2 on video the day it came out, and saw every instalment from 3 - 6 at the first possible screening. I've scoured and lurked on forums for years. My credentials as a fucking nerd are bonafide.
Why the cast of Scream 7 are complicit in Genocide - a thread.
For almost 30 years, Scream has been one of my specialist topics. I could go on Mastermind with the level of useless knowledge I hold and deeply enjoy about this franchise.
