Rectangular comic panel showing an old timey urban street at night, lit by multiple lamps. A barricade has been erected across the middle of a street, and armed folks mill around. A teenager with a basket is calling out "Got more arrows!"

Come to think of it, I also want to hug all the devs who go through this process and the game DIDN'T ship.

6 Years To Build BIG HOPS - Dev Dive Documentary
YouTube video by Dev Dive
A month out from launch, we're releasing the BIG HOPS documentary about the game's 6 year journey.
It covers Hop's origin, growing the team, navigating a tough design space, bringing it all together, getting dropped by our publisher, Kickstarting, and more!

Absolutely.
Though even this framing seems to give many of these guys too much credit.
There’s “I’m willing to tolerate terrible things to get what I want”.
And then there’s “A space where terrible things are tolerated IS what I want.”

Enjoy some Fritz Baumgarten, the king of Little Guys.
I have a shelved game idea that’s a direct homage. In a “Cobbler and Elves” cycle you play a hedge witch in the day, growing a garden for remedies, and at night you guide the Little Guys who live there.
Programmers weren’t into it 🤷

Read Charger County!
Pick it up for the punchy, expressive style!
Stay for the tension looming between fragile teen friendships and pent-up teen self-determination!

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

Pretty happy with this stylized flame shader!
It's just a fancy billboard, which lets me apply directional wind and faux 3D scaling while keeping it stylized.
The flame and smoke are part of a single shader, so that values like wind and intensity can affect them both consistently.

Was the French title any better?
“Mars Express” ends up making sense to the plot, but a title that sounds like generic public transit really undersold the themes.

Haha, yeah! Though they seem to keep the puzzling pretty separate from the world (as we have!).
I’m intrigued by how Mythmatch integrates the puzzling in the world, a thing we tried a few times and bailed on as being A Huge Design Mess. Using the generous merge format there is a smart choice.

Seeing a game with a similar premise to your own is like visiting a Sliding Doors alternate universe.
Puzzle Wizards is multiplayer, and that one big choice shoved us away from so much of the satisfying single-player crafting progression Mythmatch is doing here.
It looks so good!

You know a concept is great when you're surprised you haven't seen it before.
"Oldschool PC dungeoncrawler in the style of oldschool TTRPG manual" is extremely good.

And deeply ironic from the guys whose whole plan is to deport the only people who actually are trying to gain citizenship.

Sneaking into a trophy room. This estate marinates the victims in blood for extra juice.
Every would-be victim you rescue joins your resistance as a playable. So rescuing them isn't just heroic, it's also a practical need for when your current character inevitably falls to The Feast.
