Really sad news. What a talent. Her performances as Sybil are and always will be iconic. ❤️

Absolute belter of a track. This is where TA kicks up a gear - but the lyrics retain that beautiful poetry we all love. And the clouds, they are crying on you - And the birds are offering up their tunes. It is also a favourite track of a dear friend of mine and we often sing it together. ❤️

In just over two weeks, Tin Soldiers will finally be released! This blog post tells the story behind the story — how my Great-Grandfather's diary from the foot of Messines Ridge inspired my debut novel.

When I’m not on here banging on about Crowded House, I’m writing. My first novel, Tin Soldiers, is out on Amazon 28th October. I’d love a few follows on my writers profile 👍🏻

Well, this is exciting! As my debut novel is soon to launch, I thought I’d get myself an author profile. Please pop over and give it a follow.

I bloody love this one. Neil’s voice is extra magic. Given that it is actually written for his auntie gives it an extra edge of emotion. From the land of the living to the air and sky is so powerful.

Great show, this is. Gary Oldman is amazing (as usual).

What a voice he had. I remember an LP of the Mr Men that he narrated. I loved sitting with mum or nan listening to it ❤️

It’s pure pop genius. The perfect kick off for the album. Trademark Finn lyrics - ambiguous and open to personal interpretation, so it can mean so many things.

Best Queen Elizabeth I ever! So much so, that I even imagine historical events being played out Miranda Richardson!

Mark balls, the size of melons?!

Bonkers intro but a great version of one of my all-time favourite Crowded House tracks ❤️

The album it comes from is the first one I’ve had trouble warming to. This is a great track though - trademark harmonies and beautiful, wistful guitars. I think I need to give the album another whirl 👍🏻

Jamaica Inn. Recommended by my wife while we were eating at the Jamaica Inn! She wasn’t wrong, as usual! So atmospheric and with such strong characters.

I do, and with great fondness. I was leaving school as it took hold and a few months later had started my own band. I wasn’t even a massive fan of Oasis either - there were bands I loved more, and it is importsnt to remember that great music wasn’t only coming from the Britpop scene.

It’s just a beautiful song. In terms of memories, it’s similar to Don’t Dream It’s Over - with my mum, packing at the nd of a holiday. Nobody does bitter sweet like Neil Finn and it encapsulated that moment of sadness as the holiday was over, but happiness that it happened.

I’ll read both! I’ll definitely do something for TA - I’ll read yours first so I don’t overlap too much. I love speaking to people about how/why they love the music they do - all those personal connections and meanings. ❤️

Absolutely correct 👍🏻 He’s a hero!

If you’re a devoted fan of Ben Folds Five, or a devoted fan of any band, give this a read. @soundsfamiliar.bsky.social really hits the nail on the head about how important great music can become. 👏
