A hiker in a blue long-sleeve shirt and small backpack walks away from the camera along a narrow dirt trail, flanked on both sides by dense yellow balsamroot wildflowers in full bloom. The hillside drops toward a river valley below, with mountains visible in the background.

A sweeping aerial view of a wide, calm river — likely the Columbia — winding through a rugged canyon landscape. Steep green and rocky hillsides flank both sides of the river, with mountains and a small valley community visible in the distance under a partly cloudy sky. A railroad track runs along the far bank.

A weathered wooden sign nailed to a tree trunk reads: “Cherry Orchard Trail — 2 Beautiful Miles — Nature Preserve. Footpath only. Proceed at own risk. Beware of ticks, poison oak, cliffs, rattlesnakes and other hazards. No hunting, fires or after-dark use.” Lush green vegetation surrounds the sign

Fwiw, I genuinely love giving references for people, it's really nice to get to speak about someone you worked with and liked, so I don't think you're bothering them!

Alt text: A two-panel manga-style comic by @Nhim_Art. In the top panel, a cheerful anime girl with long light hair holds up a white cat, calling out “STINKY! Stinky, stinky boy!” In the bottom panel, a close-up of the cat’s face, eyes wide and brimming with tears, as a speech bubble reads “WHY ARE YOU SO FAT AND STINKY?” — implying the cat is dramatically repeating the insult back in distress.

Container Timing is a new web performance metric to measure when an area of the screen gets painted ⏲️

@jdapena.bsky.social and @jason-williams.co.uk have been working on it for the last couple of years.

It's in Chromium, behind a flag. Hopefully coming to an origin-trial near you soon!

That’s what’s also getting me; even the spam is now plausible enough that you have to spend a bit of time on them

Discord faces backlash over age checks after data breach exposed 70,000 IDs Discord to block adult content unless users verify ages with selfies or IDs.

There’s also already been major data leaks with people’s IDs in the few places they’ve tried this: arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...

It’s tempting to think that these companies already have all our data! But they really don’t, and they actively want more, which is they often support age verification

Discord distances itself from Peter Thiel–backed verification software after its code was found on a U.S. government server | Fortune Discord used at least three separate age-verification vendors since October after a third-party vendor breach hit 70,000 users.

Yes, it’s actually worse - most of the systems currently used for age verification are run by people like Peter Thiel and one has already been confirmed to feed the data to watchlists: fortune.com/2026/02/24/d...

I am having so much fun with Resident Evil 9, what a delightfully stupid game, just motorcycle jousted against a bad guy on a highway bridge, and the bad guy's bike spun off the bridge and literally exploded and Leon said, "Should have worn a helmet", I hope they make 12 more of these games
