Just watched @labourlewis.bsky.social's powerful speech on his Water Bill, raising the fundamental question that’s been ignored for too long: who should own our water?

It’s time to bring water back into public hands.

UK food and drink exports to the EU down 34% since Brexit Food and Drink Federation say businesses are struggling to deal with added ‘complexity and bureaucracy’

Brexit Curse.

UK food and drink exports to the EU down 34% since Brexit.

UK squeezed by Trump's tariffs.

Losing EU trade - UK regulations diverging from the EU; high energy, water, transport costs making exports expensive.

Rejoin the EU. Curb energy, water, transport profiteering.

1. You feel powerless? Don’t know what you can do to resist the rise of fascism?
Here is an answer: Good Things.
Fascism inflicts pain and harm as a matter of doctrine.
Kindness, care and conviviality defend us from it.
The more we build community, the less it can take root.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Of course!
Agreeing with Trump is an admission that you have a lack of any grey matter between your ears. That may of course be the case, but if so, don’t publicise it.

If you’d asked AI to write a piece of Russian propaganda in the style of Donald Trump, this is what you’d get. Well done America, you’ve elected a Russian asset as your President.

I always did think that the equation 0 >= 1 applies. Now you have confirmed it.
Thank you

I know I know, but red lines…… we’ve got to stick to our red lines!

Problem will be they will never win over the RW Tory/Reform vote and they will alienate their traditional supporters in the process.

No lasting peace in Ukraine without European role in talks, leaders say after Trump-Putin call Statement from countries including France, Germany and UK comes after US president says he and Putin are ready to begin talks

That the Trump administration is betraying Ukraine to Russia shouldn’t surprise us.

After all, Ukraine is fighting against autocracy and corruption that are the essence of both Trump's America and Putin's Russia.

It's time for Europe to stand up...together!

Group of Labour MPs urge No 10 to be tougher on migration to fend off Reform Exclusive: Pressure group set up by MPs from seats where Reform came second amid concern about party’s rise

When will Govt learn you can’t out-Reform Reform - you end up simply legitimising their toxic narrative. To see off populists, Labour needs to invest in public services & local communities, making a real difference to people’s lives - levy a wealth tax & use it to improve people’s lives *now*

As Trump and Musk gleefully smash the institutions of government, they simultaneously rush us towards the Earth systems horizon.
You think this is a dangerous moment? It is. But add escalating climate breakdown to your calculations and multiply by ten.

Clearly a fascist salute and it’s no surprise really given he was born and raised in apartheid South Africa.

In the rest of the developed world, we’re fully aware of this…

…and shocked & appalled by it, and regularly use it as a cautionary tale of the dangers of runaway capitalism.

It was only a sound bite to use within the MSM & to fool the uneducated into voting for them.
Tories do levelling down only!
As soon as you realise that you can understand the managed decline of the previous 14 years. They could have spent the whole budget; it would make not one iota of difference

With a supermajority wanting both the Single Market and EU Freedom of Movement back, it seems that an honest discussion about Brexit has been going on OUTSIDE the political arena. Simply put, the people are miles ahead of the politicians on Brexit. And they're tired of waiting for MPs to catch up!

Poll: Majority of leave voters say they may accept free movement to access EU single market.

Willing to accept percentage support.
Voted remain: 86%
Labour 2024: 81%
Blue wall: 75%
Defected from Labour: 74%
Con to Lab in 2024: 68%
Red wall: 59%
Voted leave: 54%

A majority of Leave voters would accept freedom of movement in return for access to the EU single market.

And, crucially, 68% of Con-to-Lab switchers would too.

Based on this, if Labour left behind its 'red lines', it wouldn't risk its 2024 winning coalition.

Also worth considering is the long term impact of kids not being able to attend with parents. It’s in those formative years that habits are forged. Will they have the same desire to attend LO matches in say ten years when the routine has not been established as a child?
