No participation fees, but attendees must cover their own travel costs to and from Qatar. Accommodation, transportation from/to the Doha Institute, and three meals/day will be covered for one presenting author per contribution for the duration of the stay (3 nights).
We welcome contributions using any methodological approach —qual., quant., computational, or mixed— that address opportunities, challenges, tools or frameworks associated with social research across cultural and national boundaries. A clear methodological focus is required for all contributions.
The in-person workshop is organized in collaboration with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. It will feature keynote lectures by Anju Mary Paul (NYU Abu Dhabi) and Timothy P. Johnson (University of Illinois at Chicago) —experts in cross-cultural and cross-national research.
The wait is over! We have published the call for contributions for the 5th Annual Meth@Mig workshop!

We talk quite a bit about fieldwork. But researchers are human, so field𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 also implies ‘field𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞,’ especially during longer stays. In a post for @methatmig.bsky.social’s Blog, I reflect on some lessons learned about #fieldwork and #fieldlife during my recent stay in Nepal.
📌 My 5 takeaways:
Please join us at 9am in Salle 50 (Cen. d. Colloq.) for our #IMISCOE2025 workshop "Studying attitudes toward immigration and immigrants: conceptual & methodological advances", chaired by S. Rinken. It's also your chance to learn more about our ongoing MAPP project (www.iesa.csic.es/en/proyectos...).
As we wrap up #IMISCOE2025 there are still a couple of highly interesting Meth@Mig sessions that you should not miss!
📣 New on the Meth@Mig blog: @josefneubauer.bsky.social reflects on fieldwork & fieldlife in Nepal— more than six months of research, insights, and lessons from Kathmandu, Barpak & Inaruwa. A instuctive look at doing research and living it.
