I would be very interested in any information about the safety precautions to take when working on live VHF antenna. Have a need for documentation relating to safe practices for a case study I am researching. Thanks
Isnβt ham radio an amazing hobby. Where else do you find people smarter than you who have all the kit and skills to tweak your gear when you canβt.
Frequency or distance? The coverage map is a little optimistic but you never know. 10 miles plus.
No I did think about taking them off but chickened out when I saw the ribbon cable.
Today's project. Still a work in progress
I still remember the sadness loading a ZX spectrum program by tape only for it to fail.
Today's session.
I tried a virtual machine first, no joy.
Far too smart for me. I will
Leave it to you code gurus.
I feel your pain
No idea, old!
Had to break this bad boy out to run the Motorola GM340 programming software. Like going back to the stone age.
Smuggled this into the shack tonight. Soon to go into the car.
And I cannot recall any of us kids wearing Lycra and a crash helmet.
Watching the Winter Olympics and want to see the type of sports we trained for as kids. Building the tallest snowman, sliding down a hill on a piece of plastic or competitive snowball fights. Come on Olympic committee, get it together!
Well this is nice!
Launching a reboot of my YouTube channel soon. Just revamped the graphics.
And I bet you are busier now than when you were working !
Chris, lost my dad two years ago to cancer. Likewise, having someone to call for advice is the biggest loss. Hold onto each precious memory.
Sounds like an ai spelling mistake.
Daughter sent me this. Bloody AI.

Thanks,
True dat, as the youth (who should never be allowed more than 10 watts on any band) say.
SHAME, I would have expected one moan about "the issue with amateur radio is that we don't build valve transmitters any more".
Oh please tell me thereβs a grumpy letter about FT8 killing ham radio or that you can get your license by buying cornflakes.
Right my fellow radio hams. As I cannot find the mobile VHF/UHF antenna I'm after. Looking for your pick of mobile antenna, must be black, and take 60watts.
Trying to find a Comet SBB-5 Mobile Antenna (BLACK) in stock in the UK is impossible.
No anything tech is great.
You know you are a radio ham when new technology arrives in your lecture room and your first thought is 'Can I get an SDR to work on this?'
