Congrats! On my reading list!
Will I see you in our favorite Mediterranean location?
Do you work with the Aspergillus fumigatus model isolates Af293 or CEA10? If so, we want to collaborate with you! In return for your lab's participation we will sequence your strain for free and provide co-authorship on the final paper.

We provide an useful tool for future clinical and research studies
Furthermore, we believe our results should urge the community to consider and investigate these phenomena, to clarify and understand their importance in therapeutical failure
We optimized an easy-to-perform assay to detect azole tolerance and persistence in A. fumigatus. With it, we screened all the clinical isolates received in the Spanish Mycology Lab in 2022 and 2023.
We show that tolerance can reduce the efficacy of voriconazole treatment in a model of infection
We are recruiting a Research Tech! Funded by the @wellcometrust.bsky.social, join us to work on Mucorales adaption in collaboration with Becky Hall (University of Kent)

Did you see this?
Exciting news! I have two positions open in my lab at the UoManchester: one PDRA and one Research Tech.
Join our team to study evolutionary mycology and help us understand antifungal resistance in fungal pathogens. A fantastic opportunity to join the brilliant Manchester Fungal Infection Group!
Congratulations Aaron!
Great thesis and great defence!
Such a pity I missed the party! Add me to the photos with AI 😆
Congrats! Great paper

Get the proposal checked by people in your field and people outside your field!
Next Tuesday I am giving a @efisg-escmid.bsky.social webinar to explain our proposed definitions for the phenomena of antifungal tolerance and persistence in filamentos fungi, and provide guidelines for their detection and quantification

I think this is a very important topic, reviewer fatigue
How many invitations do your receive per week? For me it's well over ten.
New ideas/approaches are needed

Wow, new antifungal with novel mechanism of action
Looks really promising

Outstanding work!
And so many posibiities to use this going forward...
Illustration depicting the ways in which fungi can exchange genetic material with each other. Starship mediated HGT is confirmed experimentally in this preprint.
We did it! We caught Starship #transposons moving between #fungal species in the lab, including between species separated by ~100my. We think Starships are a mediator of HGT in fungi, akin to conjugative elements in bacteria. Check out the preprint. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
How was it? In the end I went for dinner with the Spanish gang. Maybe next time I can manage!
En route to #asperfest and @ecfg172025.bsky.social
Can you believe it's my first time? I'm excited to see old friends and meet new ones. And of course, for five days of outstanding fungal research!
