🏆 Societal Impact Award 2025 for the IS2H4C team!
We are proud to share that the Sustainable Circular Economy (SCE) team in University of Twente has received the Societal Impact Award at the BMS Awards 2025, recognizing the societal impact created through the IS2H4C project.
Kerstin Pfleger-Schopf works on industrial energy systems and technology mapping to develop Hubs for Circularity. She focuses on analysing industrial energy demands, identifying waste heat potentials, and exploring opportunities for demand side flexibility within industrial energy systems
Katharina Westrup contributes to the development of practical decarbonization pathways at Industrial Park Höchst. Her work focuses on the technical workstreams around the Carbon Capture pilot phase led by Infraserv Höchst.

Patricia Rogetzer works on the societal dimension of Hubs for Circularity. As a main researcher she studyies the social acceptance of hubs for circularity.
Her work also focuses on measuring societal readiness levels by developing non technological indicators that complement technical progress.
Inês Gomes works on assessing and monitoring the transition towards more circular and sustainable industrial systems. Her work includes analysing baseline conditions, structuring methodologies for impact evaluation, and consolidating technical information from different partners.

Daniela Guericke works on modelling, optimisation and analysis for Hubs for Circularity. She develops algorithms and models that help ensure H4C systems operate sustainably and efficiently. She applies data analytics and operations research to optimise and evaluate H4C development. #WomensDay
Dr. Beatriz Royo and Dr. Teresa de la Cruz develop advanced quantitative models that support decision makers in planning and optimising #CircularSupplyChain networks.
Their modelling tools help identify opportunities, assess alternative network configurations, and simulate strategic scenarios.

Elif Erdinc Arca oversees the coordination and implementation of project activities. She works closely with partners across the consortium, supporting them in delivering high quality results, facilitating communication, and ensuring alignment with EU Commission requirements.

Daniela Amorim focuses on assessing the project’s ESG externalities. Her work measures both negative and positive impacts generated by project activities in order to build a financial model that reflects the real impact of the initiative.

Josephin Paetzold works on the development of key technologies for #industrialsymbiosis. As head of WP2 Technology Development, she leads work on technologies such as #carboncapture and utilisation, including the capture of CO₂ and its further use in methanisation, methanol and polymer synthesis.
Canan Acar works on the #systemintegration and thermodynamic assessment of #hydrogen based energy systems.Her work shows that industrial transformation is not only about deploying hydrogen technologies. It is about ensuring that integration delivers real #decarbonization across entire systems.

Following the successful launch of the Turkish Living Lab last December, the next wave of Living Lab kick-offs is on the way — Basque, Dutch, and German hubs are preparing to begin their co-creation journeys.

The session also highlighted fragmented governance, regional disparities and the scale of reskilling needed across Europe. One message stood out: circular innovation will not succeed without social preparedness, credible long-term prospects and strong dialogue.
