Sweet! Do you use something like Barrier to be able to have a shared mouse, keyboard, and clipboard? Or are the two use cases different enough that you don't need that?
I use my gaming desktop next to my work laptop and find Barrier to be invaluable; the desktop essentially acts as a third screen π

What worked for me (unintentionally) was to make it a routine to read before bed. If it's easy for you to fall asleep, read something you like; if not, read something that bores you at first (can read good stuff after the routine of 'read for a while then sleep' is established). Hope that helps π
