Our political culture teaches us to care only about ourselves, and car culture just makes it worse.

Wow… this really cuts to the heart of a great deal of things
I’ve been thinking the same thing about hoping people are working on those amendments and not that I have a say in this but I want people like @juliaazari.bsky.social and @leedrutman.bsky.social in those arguments.
I took a 63% pay cut to work as a substitute teacher in a middle school in order to get some K12 classroom experience. Teaching in the middle school has been more rewarding than any job I had in the decade since I left academia. Money isn’t everything.
I lost my job over this and won’t be lucky enough to get it back. I’m livid. And there is nothing I can do.
It drives me nuts in local discourse. I grew up in a sunbelt suburb that is super car dependent (although it does have good sidewalks). I didn’t stay there for a reason. I want to live somewhere I don’t have to drive for everything. Why should that be so crazy?
The two bike lane blockages I encountered today were a cop and a housing authority car.
Municipal employees really crushing it today. 🙄
For the cost of one Harvard Professor of the Constitution Only Applies to White People, you could endow 10 professorships of any less commonly taught language at any university in the USA
It’s not free but we need to take you to EsterEv
Women often experience cities differently from men, and that shapes how they travel through them.
In this video, Melissa Bruntlett (Modacity Creative) explains this clearly. Understanding women’s mobility priorities helps create a clearer picture of what inclusive transport systems require.
You want it to be one way, but it’s the other way.
The ballroom has always been about updating the Situation Room underneath. Right?
The ballroom will sit on top of the situation room. I think this has mostly been a cover to upgrade it.
At our daughter’s (French) school l, teachers generally go by Madam or Monsieur Last Name, though paras and staff generally get Mme/M First Name. The French honestly makes it better
Democrats are scared to run on what's right. The Democratic consultant world have their heads so far up their own asses they have no sense of what people in this country actually want. The leaders of the party are anything but leaders. They're cowards.
Hi visibility Yield to Pedestrians sign that’s been run over and is lying by the curb
If this doesn’t capture what it’s like to be a pedestrian in Milwaukee…
Super interesting apartment plan
Kitchens are pushed to the corners, allowing them to open up to the balconies in the summer, becoming semi-outdoor kitchens!

destruction of the voting rights act by a partisan court that thinks the blacks have it too good is on par with the ignominy of the courts that gutted the 14th amendment and killed the 1875 civil rights act
Oh my god. That is heartbreaking. I am so sorry.
Transgender jokes are always weapons. What a POS person.
Here's Tony Evers' proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit partisan gerrymandering. New language:
"Districts shall not provide a disproportionate advantage or disadvantage to any political party. Partisan gerrymandering is prohibited."
This could use some work, especially the first sentence
JD Vance just held a stadium rally in Athens, Georgia that attracted eleven people. But could he really be expected to compete with a sighting of Mike Mills buying cashews at the Earth Fare grocery store?
Taco Bell is very improved from where it was in the 90s/00s imo. That said, Taco Bueno is the correct answer.
The Pope has an opportunity to do the most exquisitely timed excommunication in the history of the Church.
It will be extremely funny if Vance manages to get himself excommunicated before his book on becoming a Catholic releases.
And tell us more about your bike!
Not the overarching message she's trying to get across here, but @aoc.bsky.social, welcome to The War on Cars.

City Hopeful Prioritizing The Car Will Alleviate Traffic Woes Despite 100 Years Of Evidence It Doesn't.
you shouldn’t learn about bands from shady TikTok manipulation, you should learn about bands by hanging out with a girl you like but are also extremely afraid of
