Trump Is Shutting Down the War On Cancer

"According to a recent study in The Journal of Clinical Oncology, every $326 that our government spends researching cancer extends a human life by one year. "

How do you measure ROI? I think this is one of the best.

Research saves lives, extends lives. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/14/m...

@helenalb.bsky.social my condolences friend on our collective loss of Ozzy. Please enjoy this tribute by my favorite radio station, @kexp-feed.nvm2u.com . I didn't know of his Parkinson's diagnosis until yesterday and his last concert on July 5 raised funds for research. 💔

Kennedy removes all ACIP members, eyes replacements

“This is one of the darkest days in modern public health history," he said. "Science does not matter to Mr. Kennedy.”

This is way more important than the bro-spat. Keep your eye on the "prize", not the diversion

This has massive implications:

Undermining the enforcement power of the judiciary

Legislative overreach by controlling court enforcement through appropriations

Encouraging disobedience of lawful orders in high-stakes cases

In plain English, this means if a judge waives the usual bond requirement when issuing an emergency order—something #courts are allowed to do—they would be stripped of the ability to enforce it through #contempt citations.

Can anyone stop this?

> “No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an #injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued...”

Sec 70302, Restrictions of Funds.

bottom of page 562.

is included in the #bigBeautifulBill, that just passed the house at 6am Thursday (final version provided by speaker at 9pm Wednesday night)

This is not right! SENATE REJECT THIS!

Are there any #moderate #Republicans that we can appeal to?

So interested! In the LOI, should we specify where the in-person meeting would be held? or would that be sorted when budget is requested?

NIH halts funding for new projects with foreign collaborators, citing national security concerns NIH announced it will no longer allow subawards to foreign institutions, as part of a national security-minded overhaul to how it manages research funding

More insanity.
1. Collaborative research gave us vaccines for Ebola
2. Drugs for HIV
3. Malaria vaccines
4. Researched and enhanced tracking of emerging infectious disease threats.
And much more
This is another damaging own goal.

a map of the united states with each state colored according to the number of confirmed measles cases in 2025. Texas has the most cases, at over 250, and is the darkest blue. Inset graph shows the timeline of the effectiveness of the vaccine in the reduction of cases from 1962 (the year before the vaccine was introduced) - 2023.

The US measles outbreak is not abating, and the misinformation that is coming from the HHS is fueling this 🔥

*Requiring a placebo arm* for vaccines where there is existing vaccine data to compare to is morally and ethically wrong. #BelmontReport
