My favorite use of a graduation gown!

Maybe I am kind of excited about graduating, just questioning if I did enough to deserve this!

KIRI Engine WEB Professional 3D scan & photogrammetry on web browsers. Generate photo-real 3D models in high-poly and low-poly for Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, C4D, and more.

Photogrammetry of Blue Ridge basement rock. This was only 150 photos but going to shoot 300 tomorrow with the DSLR and see the improvement. I also need a better pedestal.

Excited that some W&M alum heard about the SGE cap and gown drive and have already dropped things off! The Structure lab is becoming a storage spot for donated gowns and textbooks! It's great!

The end product will be a step by step guide with screen shots, tips, lessons learned, etc. A professor could hand it to a student and get a website with multiple 3d images of samples or outcrops. Send it to students across the country and get some really cool geology sharing.

Package it as a program such that a community college student could make a 3d model of an outcrop in Alaska and share it with another CC student in Florida with no financial burden. I'm using Omeka S for the platform and will be doing a few different free photogrammetry apps to look at capabilities.

Work to do on this first attempt, but figuring it out. The goal is to have a financially accessible workflow for photogrammetry - figuring out the best free software and platform to share images. Do it with a phone camera since a DSLR is a financial barrier. 1/2

Doing a project about photogrammetry. I hated that we used expensive equipment so I am doing my project experimenting with different software to create a step-by-step guide for financially accessible photogrammetry. Something a professor could hand a student and get a linkable 3d image for free.

Got out for a little walk alone this evening after GIS homework. I couldn't go far without a break and that's hard to be okay with.

Field courses. That's the goal. I can't run a field course with toothpick legs.

Was looking for a charger today and found an award I shoved in a drawer because it went to a version of me that doesn't exist anymore. Cancer took a lot. :/

We were reading about how body fat absorption impacts medication absorption. I got curious what mine is. I'm an athlete! This is such a good example of how you can pick and choose data to frame your own narrative.

Cartoon diagram of a silhouetted Brachiosaurus vomiting as two small theropods run away from the impact site, text reads as such: "Brachiosaurus projectile vomiting: forces generated and resulting traces: Assuming 50 kg (110 lbs) of regurgitant, impact velocity from 14 m (45 ft) height, and hard-packed sand as impact site." At the bottom of the figure, it reads: "Impact velocity = V = V 2gh = 16.6 m/s; kinetic energy before impact = 6,860 J, Average impact force = 68,600 N."

Thanks, Matthew! I'm amazed how that figure (which I drew, calculated, & wrote for the book) still pops up on social media more than 12 years later. It was partly inspired by a superb "penguin poo" figure in a peer-reviewed article, only from an "other end" perspective. 🧪🦕🤮

PT is a lot of getting stretched like a very grumpy rubber band while being chewed out for not doing weights. Cachexia is a lot of stiffness and weakness at the same time.

Furthermore, these laws are made by people who assume everyone has a family to support them. Look at the doordash situation at the White House yesterday. That grandmother should have been with her husband, not delivering McDonald's to pay medical bills. There are a million complicated situations.

Working a restaurant job or retail. I can tell my advisor I need a nap and be sent home. I am here doing what I want to and staying hopeful about the future. The stress a work requirement will cause, will kill people and many people won't be able to hold down a job due to inconsistent health. 2/2
