Preemptive strikes are by definition unproportional. They are not a response in the first place.
Distinguishing Non-Combatants ❌
100+ civilians were killed in a strike on a school by American bombs on day 1 (likely accidental), a crime for which we have not apologized.
Reasonable Chance of Success 🔲
To answer this definitively there would need to be a plan or goal. Every goal identified by the current administration since the war began has been laughably vague or demonstrably false.
Re-establishing Peace ❌
We broke the peace, not Iran.
Redress of Wrongs ❌
While Iranians & Israelis certainly suffered under the regime and its support of terrorism, no such argument can be made for the US in recent years.

Congress declares war, not the President. TBF, this line has been blurred by presidents from both parties over the last 50 years.

Others may be doing this, friend, but I can assure you that clergy in the ELCA are most definitely not rationalizing the President’s blasphemous social media posts.

We became the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 1988 but the name has always been problematic. We’re either “not THOSE kind of evangelicals” or “not THOSE kind of Lutherans” as much as we are “Lutherans who love the Good News (the core meaning of “evangelical”).” TL;DR Identity is hard.
There are several branches of several churches here. Most prominent would actually be a wing within the evangelical movement that has simply refused to bow to MAGA & Christian Nationalism. There’s also the exvangelicals - Rachel Held Evans is a good example. Deconstruction can be a good thing
it’s about that time:
- if you’ve done your return and can’t pay, file anyway because failure to file and failure to pay are two separate penalties and failure to file is much bigger
- if you haven’t done your return an extension will avoid the failure to file penalty
