Our students use the NumWorks calculator and I use the app emulator on my iPad. You can still put it into exam mode on the app so I presume this would be ok for exams!

I spend a lot of time saying just copy the EXACT wording from the question!

Hi Emily, could you possibly share this link again as it’s expired and I can’t find where I saved it! Thanks ☺️

A-Level Statistics are only allowed to use real data in their exam questions, the data is always referenced so you could look it up if you want more than is given in the question

I use the LHS method but with the notation you’ve used on the RHS

I’ve checked multiple papers in the last few weeks who missed A* by a few marks and there are so many little easy marks they’ve dropped under time pressure.

Some basic skills checks, I think they often forget the importance of this as they want to jump straight to exam questions. Things like - Write down the steps to find the inverse of a 3x3 matrix, what’s the formula to calculate volumes of revolution, sketch r=2acosx etc.

Not because it’s pointless but the AQA mechanics spec is far too big to only be a sixth of the course. Really needs to be slimmed down a bit so it can be taught in the depth that it needs.

We’ve only ever run support lead by staff but we discussed the idea of using time this year to pre teach the basics of up coming topics to give more confidence in class.

Absolutely they have so much to do and think about! The other thing that caused an issue this year was needing to show 4/5*1^(5/2) rather than just writing 4/5 on the integration question - such an annoying way to lose two marks when they clearly know what they’re doing!

The thing I’ve found that helps the most is missing details from my worked solutions as we go through examples and then constantly asking what’s missing or what else should I have included etc

I had lots of students losing the mark for this on AQA this year! I have gone on and on about the need for full commentary and conclusions on every question but it’s still an issue for lots of students.

DrFrost for key skill practice, exam questions on a particularly topic and then linear mixed topic papers made up of exam style questions every 6 weeks ish. Tend to send those who need extension to MadasMaths 🙂

I remember my mum supervising students and them staying over at my house when I was little! Crazy - I think parents do the supervising now and just sign to say they won’t allow access to the internet etc
