The global clean tech boom really is one of the biggest and most consequential economic, environmental, and geopolitical stories of the century. It remains beyond weird that it is so often treated as a second order issue at best. www.businessgreen.com/news/4528514...
Teaching them the evil and sinister metric system.
A slight change of pace from My Booky Wook.
Wow. Chancellor Rachel Reeves vows to cut link between gas and electricity prices in the UK

A HUGE, narrative-breaking moment for the UK car market
New EVs are now cheaper than petrol cars on average, says Autotrader
Last yr CCC said price parity was due by 2028 – and it's already here
And EVs are already MUCH cheaper to run than petrol
*Directly after a devestating loss at home to a relegation rival. 'Win an exclusive signed shirt by the matchday squad against Nottingham Forrest!!'.
There's a jarring disconnect between their chirpy comms and the absolute slop served up to the long suffering fans every week.
I'm biased, but I think this is the apex example of how our discourse has become detached from reality.
The reality has moved rapidly in one direction (dramatic fall in solar and battery costs; climate change seeming worse than expected). The discourse has moved in the exact opposite direction

Also, please use more fuel during an energy crisis.
In France, legislation came into effect recently for all car parks that have over 80 spaces to be covered with solar panels. Estimated to add around 11GW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid. Why not do likewise in Scotland? Braehead, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort etc.
Disappointing Winter Wonderland face.
This aga isn’t going to run itself.
For the first time ever, heat pumps outsold gas boilers in Germany in 2025.
48% of all new heating systems installed last year were heat pumps. Gas fell to just 39%. A decade ago, heat pumps had a 7% market share. The transformation has been remarkable.
A single line in this piece just made my day:
“The electricity system operator is understood to be preparing to run the grid without any gas for short periods as soon as this summer, in a first for the UK energy system.”
Renewables *work*. And progress matters🎉

She also doesn’t let me pack her chute.
I think this is true for a large proportion of his supporters. However, I’ve also encountered Americans who seem quite normal and well adjusted who voted for him. One guy I spoke to said ‘I don’t like his racism or misogyny but…’. Those people are even more infuriating.

Earth and Moon from DSCOVR NASA's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite captured this unique view of the Moon as it moved in front of the sunlit side of Earth last month. This view shows the fully illuminated “dark side” of the moon that is never visible from Earth. Ian Regan processed this version of the image to account for the Moon's motion. NASA / NOAA / Ian Regan
I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable.

Solar continues to skyrocket in Africa through February 2026!
Solar is doing more to bring electricity to Africa than any other technology.
Solar may be doing more to increase electricity supply in Africa than all other technologies combined.

Hilarious how for years serious people have said that you can't rely on renewables because they are prone to disruptions in supply www.ft.com/content/19f1...
The fabulous owl, Lady Jane Grey, with her handler, Pete, in Totnes, Devon.
Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.
