Very unlikely because of sales numbers.

Really appreciate you guys doing this deep dive on a book that basically got lost in the pandemic. It’s nice to see the discussion of the work we did, which all of us were super proud of.

Only if he was willing to sell it to someone likely to hold it in a Swiss airport vault!

Ah the Guggenheim… 😌
I think the building was the better choice!

Not saying he paid that in 1964, mind you, just that that’s the equivalent value in 1964 dollars.

Quick inflation calculator puts the equivalent price at $917,000 in 1964 when Rothko moved into this studio. Not sure what his finances were at that point, but it seems like a lot, even for someone with his success.

Could Rothko even have afforded this?

Oh! Lol

Not to be a complainer, but we haven’t had a single dewpoint whoosh graphic here on Bluesky.

Sketchbook pencil sketch studies of a landscape painting and a carved female wooden head.

I took my class to @peabodyessex last Thursday to sketch from their new show from the @pafacademy collection. Here are a couple of my sketches done while the students were working.

The credit for X-Men Remastered on the Eisners is wrong. The book collects stories Glenn Greenberg edited 30 years ago, but I'm the sole editor of the book.
I'm real happy for the team but crediting "Glenn Greenberg and others" really sucked the joy out of this one.
"And others" on my own project 😐

Solo show is not until February 2028, but paintings take time, and it’s a big space to fill. Cutting panels to size for a series that I’m planning for the heart of the show.

@illdave.bsky.social I have a question about your paper/ink preferences for lettering. I have a commission to replicate some lettering for a piece of original art and they’d like it to look like it would have in original paste-up method. Message me if you would?

Been gathering work for a show @fortpointarts.bsky.social curated by @karlstevensart.bsky.social & found drafts of 1st pages of ā€œGullsā€ from ā€œPleading with Starsā€. 1st is plain ink, then gouache/colored pencil/vellum. I ā¤ļø it, but vellum scans poorly. Used watercolor in final. (See cut out panel)

I haven’t been sharing much art lately, because I’m trying to protect delicate young ideas. But this I think is safe enough.
