Man, I would absolutely be willing to settle for banning certain classes of people from owning guns, even if it would be abused and broken in many cases.

I will not left perfect be the enemy of good here; and fewer guns and gun owners is unquestionably good

And now one of the leaders of the escape is raising massive money as the Dem nominee for senate. It’s the mainline position now

They don’t know how to predict elections, but they are damn good once the votes start being tallied!

Spanberger’s opponent was also a disaster

True. It took an exogenous event to get me over here, and e.g. Mina Kimes actively recruiting key people in her network to come too

I don’t think it’s that nefarious, I think it’s simply that no one in an advising role wants to say ‘there’s no solution to the problem that the other side has agency, tactics, and money too’ Because that puts the advisor out of a job!

Why hire that guy when someone else says “I have the fix!”

Literally anti-American. George Washington:

"Finding the smallpox to be spreading much ... I have determined that the Troops shall be inoculated ... Necessity not only authorizes but seems to require the measure ... we should have more to dread from [smallpox], than from the sword of the enemy."

Oh I can!

Military "War College" is where high level officers are taught how to fight full scale war: campaign-level strategy, logistics, branch coordination, international cooperation, etc.

Hegseth served as a low level officer. He only has battlefield level training. He's a glorified grunt.

lol, I can't read the article but the second graph starts: "I strongly disagree with Rs on abortion, sep of church and state, immigration, healthcare, taxes, and more. Yet..."

Apparently none of that matters as much as Dems opposing Israel's genocide???

The indies will absolutely NOT be the first to whine, because essentially by definition independent voters (true indies, not unaffiliated leaners) have incoherent views and won't mind a broken congress.

If they had coherent views and wanted something done, they'd be in a party!

they hang out in Antarctica post Napoleon until Gru in the 60s, so this movie will be breaking canon somehow.

Wonder if it'll be like a sitcom and begin and end with them on ice to keep sidestepping everything from the Civil War to the Nazi.

Weirdly they "canonically" were literally chilling in Antarctica between Napoleon and the 60s...

I suppose this movie could be a brief interlude that ends up with them back on the ice to once again sidestep the early 1900s issue?

I'd argue this is true for just about any job!

Wanting to test the capabilities, I'm using AI for zero-stakes data analysis. The fun part is coming up with different models, constraints, dependencies, etc and reviewing the results. The annoying part is *doing the actual math*!

Bleh. Loud, uncomfortable chairs, overpriced food, possibly bad wifi and draining power on my devices? No thanks

I do it if I'm traveling home from a work trip as I have nowhere better to be, but I'd rather spend an extra hour at home doing just about anything else

It's like the Peter Principle of Trump jams: he kept wriggling out of jams and, instead of learning to avoid jams, instead escalated the stakes to be bigger and more intractable until he finally found one he couldn't wriggle out of.
