Whether or not they knew it would do that, they definitely leaned into it as soon as they noticed.

That's another good one!
Good choice.
It was a little hokey, even for its time, but the premise could be used to examine a lot of ideas.
Heather and I started watching The Pitt.
I didn't want to like it, but it's great.
Especially if you like watching a hapless individual get covered in multiple bodily fluids.
The ridiculous 1985 show, Otherworld.
The family would be recast. Definitely would love to see Brian Tyree Henry as the dad.
But I would keep Jonathan Banks as the antagonist.
TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON This cartoon has four regular panels, plus a tiny "kicker" panel under the bottom. PANEL 1 A large caption says "PRE-ELECTION." Two people, a casually dressed woman and a more business-dressed man, are talking in an office. The man makes a dismissive gesture. WOMAN: Progressives have some ideas for this election... MAN: Here's my idea. Step one: donate to our campaign. Step two: you get lost. PANEL 2 The man pushes the woman out of the office. WOMAN: Hey! MAN: No insult, but you woke special interest social justice freaks repel normie voters. Leave us in charge of this election so we can win! PANEL 3 The man sits behind his desk, looking very pleased. MAN: Good riddance! Now we can run a winning campaign - a centrist campaign with a centrist candidate and centrist strategies! PANEL 4 A large caption says "POST-ELECTION". The same man and woman are in a hallway. She glares at him, while he yells at her, jumping with fury. MAN: WE LOST AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! KICKER PANEL The man smiles as he talks to Barry the cartoonist. MAN: Centrist Democrats can't fail! We can only be failed.

This is going to make the next month even harder. So if you want to do something to help, now is a great time to support my Patreon.
i don't like that platner guy because a) nazi tattoo & b) if a genuine progressive was revealed to have a regretted nazi tattoo somehow they would be subjected to relentless attacks over it from places that're suspiciously quiet about platner. i consider that telling
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?
Scarlett (22) and the 10yo are BOTH obsessed with this game. She played the original and is a little disappointed with the new one, but 10yo has no comparison and loves it.
Hey Cory, what was that 10% we didn't agree on
There seem to be four visual types of D&D youtube.
1. Beardy guy talks to camera. Usually bad sound and lighting.
2. More attractive person with better sound and lighting talks to camera
3. Vtuber
4. Hands.
I think the last one is my least favorite.
On top of reasons of role deconstruction and bodily autonomy, this is one reason why it's so important to many people in power to eradicate trans folk.
If you're secure with yourself, feeling good BEING yourself, they can't tell you you're broken and then sell you a "fix"
Is there a point to all of this?
No
So each class group has a main ability and each class within the group has its own ability focus.
You would also gain a plus one from your background, allowing a starting PC to have a max ability bonus of 4, but it depends on choices instead of dice.
The non-caster (Skillful?) classes could be like this.
Maven Dexterity +1
Artificer(Int+2), Assassin(Str+2), Bard(+2), Rogue(Dex+2)
Warrior Strength +1
Barbarian (Str+2), Fighter (Con+2), Paladin(Cha+2), Ranger (Dex+2)
The caster classes would maybe break down like this.
(Note, i had to make up some new classes and rename others to make this work. Oh well)
Cleric Wisdom +1
Druid(Con+2), Monk(Dex+2), Priest(Int+2), Seer(Wis+2)
Mage Intelligence +1
Sorcerer(Con+2), Warlock(Cha+2), Witch(Wis+2), Wizard (Int+2)
No more of that Ability Scores = 3-18. New players still don't understand what a DM means when they say, "What is your Strength bonus?" Just use the bonus numbers. Enough. It's over.
Pathfinder is doing it already, but I don't care. Abilities would be assigned by Class and Background.
I actually think getting the Muppets on Make Some Noise would be a huge hit and everyone on Earth would love it so much that Utopia could be achieved.
I wouldn't take away a signature ability from a class, like Lay on Hands, Divine Smite, or Bardic Inspiration. But I would make it less like everyone is a different flavor of Magic-User.
Then, maybe I would do non-attack spells (invisibility, fly etc) as class powers that you can use a number of times per day.
Also, only spellcasters would have spells. Other classes might get a magical ability or two, but not spells.
Another idea I have had for a while is to streamline the spell list into things like, "Beam", "Cloud", and "Blast" or something like that. Then when picking a spell, the player decides the damage type.
Sort of how super powers worked in Champions.
I'm just spitballin' here.
It's hard to do this without either:
A. Altering it so much that it's not the same game anymore.
or
B. Altering it so little that there is no point in bothering.
One idea I have is to give spellcasters a d4, d6, d8, and d12 for their spell damage instead of spell slots. The die would be multiplied by the caster's level, but you only get one of each.
This would only apply to damaging spells. You still get cantrips and utilities. Maybe as special abilities.
Choices would be made in every encounter, not just at character creation.
That would be the goal at least.
Spell damage would start lower and reach higher, but be limited in frequency.
Class abilities would be resources to manage. Players should have to think about what to do instead of just having a list of powers.
One thing I'd do is bring the number scale way down. Less HP for PCs (more in line with Old School) and monsters.
I'd organize the Classes along ability scores so we don't end up with THREE Charisma casters.
Sneak attack would be lowered too, in terms of damage output.
