I would like to thank the Ever Crisis music team for adding loops to both "Buried in Snow" and "The North Cave" so that I didn't have to.
This is a really cool video about the musical development in Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that you all should watch. Show @timoram.bsky.social some love! youtu.be/hBS0Uen4DaU

I think I will start streaming The World Ends with You: Final Mix tomorrow!
Did I just create a version of "Planetary Mysteries - The Weapons" with each section looped and then also split each section into its own track (with a loop)?
Yes. Yes, I did.

Hey, all. I've been busy re-uploading Rebirth's unreleased music, and I'm happy to say that Ch. 1-10 have been reuploaded with new track numbering (and a few other edits)! If you want to help support me and have access to FLACs, I have a Patreon (see reply for link)! drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Unless the translation is bad, Ise is referencing a track that is not on the Rebirth OST Plus (or any release, for that matter!). So yes, Ise-san, we'd love to listen to it, but alas... (I mean, I have the BGM file, but still!) "The Swamplands" on OST is a different track. 😬
Wrong on both counts. Video game fans datamine, SON(S)! Also, it may be a translation error, but the music changes upon activating half the Remnawave Towers in each region, not all of them. And a couple were really noticeable, so yeah, we noticed! (No idea what's going on with the subtitles there.)
I skipped a good bit of this section, but yeah, Remake had a ton of music, and Rebirth has even more. (Removing exact duplicates and all music from other titles, I counted 889 unique BGM files, though that does include short transitional tracks, etc.)
First off, his respect for Uematsu once again is admirable. Second, here is confirmation that the Japanese lyrics to "Rufus's Welcoming Ceremony - A New Leader" were written by Toriyama during the original game's development. It's really cool that they included that in Rebirth.
I have to assume the "tentative names for the cutscenes" extends to sometimes using the main scenario quest titles for sequences, as Toriyama has occasionally relied on those for track title names, as well. It's still cool to know where some of these titles are coming from.
I also appreciate some insight into how Toriyama comes up with the naming of each track, though I can't say this is much of a surprise. I'd caught onto this pattern and did something similar for many of the Rebirth unreleased tracks (including OST Plus tracks pre-release).
Here is where Toriyama talks about being responsible for the naming of the tracks. I would have thought a selection of people who put together the OST would handle naming, but I'm glad to have this info. I'm also surprised they name the tracks toward the end of development. I thought it'd be later.
Toriyama is exaggerating about the Nibelheim flashback containing three discs' worth of music, but suffice it say, there are *still* unreleased tracks from Chapter 1 of Rebirth. (Depending on what you consider a unique track, still 7-8 unreleased, plus two from the prologue.)
It's interesting to me that Toriyama made the final decision as to which tracks are included on the soundtracks. For Rebirth, though, I disagree with Toriyama's statement that the first Rebirth OST had all the "most famous stuff" on it. There was A LOT of negative feedback from fans, unfortunately.
It's good to know that Toriyama values Uematsu's input even though he has little direct involvement with the Remake trilogy's music. Proper respect should be given to the original composer's vision, especially since the OG development team's vision was so ambitious.
Of course, "Aerith's Theme" is from Disc 3 and obviously was featured in Remake, as well. Yes, I'm being a smartass. There are obviously occasional exceptions to this rule Toriyama put in place, but I think genuinely they've mostly stuck to this rule? Interesting idea, either way.
Toriyama is correct; it was four discs. However, Remake and Rebirth both contain at least one track from Disc 4 of the FFVII (OG) Original Soundtrack: "One-Winged Angel". Interesting to hear this philosophy about what discs they would include music from, though!
First off, these three men are as follows:
Motomu Toriyama - Rebirth Co-Directer [Scenario]
Keiji Kawamori - Rebirth Music Supervisor
Makoto Ise - Rebirth Sound Director
Toriyama was also responsible for naming the track titles (more on that in a few).
