FYI - Tilburg is a city of 220k population (2x time the size of Dunedin).
Seriously, check out JUST the type 2 AC public chargers in this small city. Like that’s not even the rapid DC fast chargers.
Haha so Dutch. Love it!
Also make sure to check out one of more than 20 different salad options at the AH, when you get a chance. So good! 🥗
Hospitality at train stations is great, eh! Great for early morning coffee, or a quick lunch while on your way.
Totally. I’m feeling for the Wellington folks.

Some cool data from @mrcagney.bsky.social
83% wear active wear, versus 17% in normal clothes.
Also, safer&seperate infrastructure will lead to more women riding. Research identified a tipping point when cycling reaches 7% of all trips in a city, gender equity follows.

With the fuel-supply crisis brewing, there’s been talk of letting trucks use bus lanes.
But that may be starting at the wrong end of the question - and missing the bigger opportunities, writes Matt Lowrie: www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2026/04/20/g...
An interesting, and I think accurate, take on Luxon from Dr Andrew Dickson. Buckle up for a bit of Lacanian theory.

“2 thirds of ute trips took place in urban areas – that’s according to where drivers lived and the duration of the trips.
Most were short, which produce disproportionately higher rates of emissions than longer trips, and mostly not for work purposes. Usually, there’s only 1 occupant, the driver.”
This is exactly how this street should be. It is not a street designed for motor vehicles, which are guests.
Already, people are demanding in these videos that the tech becomes more assertive against pedestrians and cyclists.
This is the beginning of a slippery slope for human-scale cities.

We can create this in Aotearoa; if we made walking, cycling and PT easy/convenient, and getting around by cars harder in our cities.
So these are the kinds of streets in the neighbourhood of my Airbnb, and I just adore them …open right onto the street, gardens & patios in back, everything is so quiet, you can hear bicycles come by, cars are slow & hella infrequent so make very little noise. I can walk in the street easily.
