In a region powered by ambition and policy memos, don’t forget to make time for love.
Happy Valentine’s Day, DMV! May your dates be bipartisan and your chocolates tariff-free 🌐❤️🍫
Probably not, just want the snow gone lol
Our secret turn-on as DMV residents ❤️🔥:
IMPORTANT UPDATE: @tobinjstone.bsky.social has officially brought the 3000 series indoors and it is warming up by the fireplace now!
A picture of a perfectly shoveled sidewalk next to a still mostly snowed in street
very based aspect of urban living in DC right now is the apartment owners & business improvement district have zealously shoveled every inch of snow off the sidewalks near me before the city even had a chance to thoroughly plow the road itself lol
Winter said “try me” and you still showed up. Respect to the crews out there keeping service going ❄️
Sidewalks are for pick mattocks.
Accumulated snow across the DMV quietly asking whether follow-through is funded

Stay warm everyone! 🥶
One inch of snow in the DMV and the Beltway becomes a live-action social experiment
DMV winter tradition:
checking Metro alerts before checking the weather
i think this attitude — that all opposition is illegitimate and nothing we do can be questioned— is probably pervasive in the white house and helps explain why they keep making terrible political choices
This is all really great advice.
I believe we need to adjust how we fill vacancies in the General Assembly. The five day primaries aren't good for anyone, and I think tools like ranked choice voting provide us with better ways to address the need for speed in situations like this.
These unions are not acting in the best interest of the city and should not be listened to
There's no question SW is ripe for a big change but any plan that doesn't remove 395 is deeply unserious and this White House can absolutely not be trusted to lead any of it
This seems to just be yet another example of nimbys saying "there's not enough affordable housing" when really they just don't want anything new built at all.
No amount of affordable housing will ever satisfy them, because they don't actually want affordable housing
A huge thank you to Emma Ashford and John Chrobak, as well as all the diligent libs who braved the cold to attend our foreign policy fireside chat tonight! 🔥
Stay tuned for more events coming later this year! 👀
Huge shoutout to the Commonwealth's very own @kaine.senate.gov for being a free trade titan in Congress!

i think this MLK day the thing to focus on is the strategic focus and tactical brilliance of the civil rights movement and the way it was laser focused on a set of achievable goals
More than half a century ago, Martin Luther King Jr. marched in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall.
Today, let us remember King's legacy of peaceful struggle, and playing a crucial step towards the realization of our nation's first promise: "that all men are created equal."
Virginia House Democrats Celebrate New Era for Virginia Following Historic Inauguration of Spanberger, Hashmi, and Jones RICHMOND, VA — Virginia House Democrats today celebrated a historic turning point for the Commonwealth following the inauguration of Abigail Spanberger, Ghazala Hashmi, and Jay Jones. Governor Spanberger is the first woman Governor of Virginia, Lieutenant Governor Hashmi is the first Muslim American woman elected statewide, and Attorney General Jones is the first Black Attorney General in the Commonwealth’s history. House Democratic leaders said today’s inauguration represents more than historic firsts — it marks the beginning of a new era focused on governing, collaboration, and delivering real results for Virginians. Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates Don Scott said: “Today is a powerful moment for Virginia — not just because history was made, but because Virginians chose leaders who are ready to govern. This new administration reflects the people we serve and the future we are building. House Democrats stand ready to work alongside Governor Spanberger, Attorney General Jones, and Lieutenant Governor Hashmi to address the real needs of Virginians and deliver results that strengthen our Commonwealth.” House Democratic Leader Charniele Herring added: “This inauguration marks a new chapter for Virginia — one defined by leadership that puts people first. Our statewide leaders bring integrity, experience, and a commitment to solving problems. House Democrats are eager to work together to lower costs, protect fundamental freedoms, and make sure every Virginian has a fair shot at success.” House Democratic Caucus Chair Kathy Tran said:
