"The math on build vs buy has changed!"
Definitely in some fashion yes, but the problem wasn't just the building - it was maintaining what you built.
Everything has a tax, and I'd rather not tax my engineers with things that aren't meaningful for our business or our developer experience.

Apparently all you have to do is criticize ICE for tech companies to start giving your info to DHS. Very cool and good.
Looking at complex code you spent weeks working on over a year ago and trying to remember where you left off
I think the hardest part in really adopting this is designing with dynamic flow control in mind.
The advice is correct, but I think many of us just haven't seen it done well enough to really get how to propagate it into our systems effectively.
Hey Kelsey, I'm a big fan of your work, especially on kubernetes-the-hard-way. I wanted to raise some funds for you through the use of a crypto coin using a platform called BagsApp (@BagsApp on X). We decided to base it off of NoCode as it is one of the funniest repositories we have seen in Github. The community really likes this combination of rewarding a strong builder and the funny aspect NOCODE brings. BagsApp is becoming increasingly popular as a method of open source funding for talented developers such as yourself, with many success stories coming from developers who have taken advantage of this innovative platform. BagsApp has documentation explaining the entire model, which you can read here: https://bags.fm/blueprint Another developer Steve Yegge; creator of Gas Town has seen great success with this and has written a medium article which may also bring you more clarity. You can read that here: https://x.com/Steve_Yegge/status/2011632032284369305?s=20 We have currently raised $3,000 and this is steadily increasing. You can check the funds raised for you and claim here: https://bags.fm/79VXvEt7xSPhvQggeJ75UVqD41yXJwBS44zrstreBAGS I understand this may come across as shady so, if you have any more questions I am more than happy to hop on a call with you and explain where this all comes from. Thanks!
It seems the crypto community has found a new way to extract money from people. They are creating tokens for popular open source projects and inviting maintainers to get in on the scheme.
Here is the email I got earlier today.
I think I just made a really cool chart but I don't wanna be that guy posting in work slack about my cool chart at 8:30 am in my first month on Xmas morning.
That's kind of a year 2 move imo.
Jerome Powell just straight up said the U.S. government is publishing fake jobs numbers. Things will really go off the rails when Trump replaces him next year.
An old fashioned that's way too sweet, and I wish were a boulevardier
Here's to something new
Stories leaking about how unqualified people in the Trump admin think Kash Patel and Pete Hegseth are seem silly in context.
This is exactly what you get putting podcasters and Fox News hosts in serious life or death situations
Sorry to hear that dude, hope all is otherwise well
Didn't post individually but we have become soup
Still more to go
Getting darker
Onions, ever softer
Still onions, but starting to soften
Pot of onions for French Onion Soup
It begins
ARE THEY FINALLY BRINGING BACK SIMPLEDB?!?!
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.
I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
I say it over and over again: when you have that much money, you want to live where you want to live and you are simply not going to relocate because of marginal tax rates
Alan Dershowitz will never leave Martha’s Vineyard and they won’t even sell him a pierogi

While US venture capitalists were buying monkey jpegs, and DOGE coins, and figuring out how to get Black women fired, and tweeting about white birthrates, and trying to mandate which bathroom trans kids should use, China was making progress on climate change and taking the lead in a real industry.
Final call! 📣
Join us with @kelseyhightower.com tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov 4, at 17:00 UTC to explore the future of configuration with our Configuration Control Plane, and turn configuration from a source of risk into a source of reliability!

I've asked the team behind Cue to come prepared to discuss the limits of configuration management when dealing with different configuration systems, for example, using Terraform, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions to manage a single project, something that occurs more often than you would think.

...But we cannot be friends"
“Once my colleague pulled out his camera, the agent put away the gun," Huynh told the Sun-Times Tuesday night. "[But] if they can do this in broad daylight to an elected official, and point a gun at someone, imagine what’s happening behind closed doors.”
Nothing feels worse than a botched handshake.

"Ugh, guys, remember when I did some insider trading? Well it turns out that's a crime!! *Sigh* now I might have to go to prison and I'm gonna miss my besties wedding that weekend!
This really wasn't worth it, guys ://///"
