One of my favorite parts of starting or joining a project is doing deep dives into the production side of things. What's needed, when is it needed, and how do you wrangle this wibbly-wobbly bundle of stuff into a final product.

Yay for bringing order to chaos!

I just wanted to say thank you for the extra motivation. It helped me through a tough spot yesterday. I'll keep at my writing and improving where I can.

Thanks for getting back to me! I had a feeling that was the case, but it never hurts to ask to be sure. I know my queries and pitches for "Xenos Depths" and "Abyssal Unknown" (non-Trek novels) were met with resounding silence, so this doesn't surprise me. Breaking into publishing is hard!

If you don't mind me asking, what /is/ the best way/time to submit such a pitch? Tekkno's render of the TOC was based on a bit of writing of mine involving a Premonition-class (U.S.S. Titor, featured below and rendered by Jetfreak-7). I'd love some industry insight if you have the time to share!

A potential rendition of one of the Temporal Operations Centers aboard a Premonition-class starship. Featuring a temporal transporter, incursion operations pit, and temporal-stellar map showing known incursion points. Loosely based on Star Trek Voyager bridge concept art and rendered in Blender3d.

Wait until you see how Run 2 ends when I post the video later tonight. It's very rage-bait-y.

A meme of Janeway looking happily at a screenshot of Star Trek: Voyager: Across the Unknown, with a screen that suggests a 100% success rate for a selectable mission. The text reads: This one is a slam-dunk. There is no way you could possibly fail this one. Seriously, it is the easiest roll you could possibly make. Don't be afraid, click the button!" The second image shows Janeway looking upset at the mission outcome screen, which has somehow resulted in a "Terrible" outcome. The text reads: "Your shuttle crashed and exploded. The crew were killed. Kes is dating Tom Paris. Somehow Palpatine returned. The Hindenburg II exploded. The Borg assimilated your mother, just her. Morale on your ship has plummeted. Tuvok cried. Earth is sucked into a different dimension." There is additional text showing that crew died, morale was lost, and a shuttle was also lost.

Anyone else get a distinctly X-Com feel from some of the RNG in Star Trek: Voyager: Across the Unknown? 😆

Run 2 of Across the Unknown is going better, but I'm confident in giving the game a 7/10 overall. Great if you're a Trek fan and watched Voyager, but there's so many little things that hinder the experience. I'll probably do a "Thoughts" video on YouTube after lunch.

To elaborate on this: Yes, I was playing on "normal" difficulty rather than easy. Yes, it does appear the game is very XCOM-like (which I also struggled with). But when the core game loop gets in the way of fun (i.e. the canon-diverging moments), this game needed more time to cook.

Run 1 of Across the Unknown ended in failure right before Tuvix. I cannot understate how supremely frustrating the game became in Sectors 3 and 4. And since there are no manual saves (that I found), my only choice is to replay 4+ hours

Current Review: 6/10 - This may change with future runs/patches

Here's the U.S.S. Titor - a Premonition-class using the #StarTrekOnline redesign. The Titor is the "hero ship" of my in-progress novel(la) featuring a Chameloid #LowerDecks officer working for the Temporal Integrity Commission.

the hits just keep coming #StarTrek.

So, by giving the Premonition-class (and thus the U.S.S. Titor) 6 different Temporal Operations Centers and modular Temporal Shielding, we have a "flagship timeship" that can do the duty of multiple Wells-class at once!

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

2 months ago 4 0 1 0

My reckoning is that the Premonition-class has upwards of 600-750 crew (if not more), and is sized to fly alongside the classic Sovereign and Vesta classes. And it has a dedicated time nacelle, which could support multiple temporal incursion handling.

2 months ago 4 0 1 0

#StarTrek "canon" suggests that most Temporal Integrity Commission work happens on Wells-class like the Relativity. But the Wells-class is *tiny* - 175ish crew, 150m (ish) long, and only has the one Temporal Transporter (as far as we know).

The Premonition-class is a huge upgrade to that!
