MSD should take a high-trust approach. People evacuated shouldn’t have to provide paperwork to get help replacing food or bedding.
Communities need practical support now‼️ Activate the payment without delay and ensure it reaches people quickly, without unnecessary barriers.

The Green Party is urging the Govt to activate the Civil Defence Payment across Wellington immediately 🚨
It exists for exactly this situation and must cover all affected communities, including those outside the official zone who have still lost belongings.
Next step: tell your MP to back our Bill to sanction Israel for its continued illegal occupation of Palestine.
This ruling should be a lesson for all public bodies and retirement funds: stop investing in companies complicit in Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.
We hope the Fund accepts the ruling without challenge and immediately divests from Airbnb, Booking.com, Motorola and Expedia, and strengthens its policies so our pensions never support human rights abuses or breaches of international law.
The Green Party celebrates today’s court ruling that the New Zealand Superannuation Fund (our pensions) should not be invested in companies doing business in occupied Palestine.
This is a political choice. We can choose to ensure everyone is safe at home through this climate-change-charged extreme weather, and we are asking the Government to step up to that responsibility.
The Govt must choose to ensure everybody who needs it gets access to emergency housing this weekend, or they are choosing to leave New Zealanders on the street during what they've warned is a potentially 'life-threatening' event.
The Greens are calling on the Govt to ensure emergency housing is available to all people experiencing homelessness as Cyclone Vaianu approaches the North Island.
Luxon is telling people to stock up & prepare to stick out this storm at home. What does that mean for the people he has made homeless?
PRESS RELEASE: This is a crisis and the Government's response will do nothing for most New Zealanders. The situation demands far more than what was announced today.

PRESS RELEASE: Greens Offer Votes To National Party For Immediate Relief In Fossil Fuel Crisis.

Isn't it interesting that protecting rivers is "too costly" but polluting them isn't?
Isn't it interesting that secure housing is called unrealistic, yet tax incentives for landlords aren’t?
Isn’t it interesting that te Tiriti o Waitangi allows the Crown’s existence on this whenua but it’s “too hard” for the Crown to uphold it?
Isn't it interesting that fuel prices soar but the answer to that is families should take a few things out of their boot?
Isn't it interesting that the system we’re told is best leaves the majority at the bottom and puts the rich few at the top?
Isn't it interesting that making decisions for the sake of public good is debatable, but private profits are untouchable?
Isn't it interesting that the people who say a wealth tax on the mega wealthy is a bad idea are usually mega wealthy themselves?
We need real actions that help regular people hurting from these price increases, and a serious plan to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels so the next crisis does not hit families just as hard.
This crisis has also exposed a deeper failure in the Government’s long-term planning.
They cancelled the Clean Car Discount, weakened the Clean Car Standard, hiked public transport fares & are locking in further exposure to volatile fossil fuel prices with their LNG terminal.
Many people are already struggling with the daily cost of living. Instead of coming with a plan to alleviate hardship, the Finance Minister has nothing on the table to give the support that is needed.
Today, our Finance Minister pulled together a press conference to announce that there is no new support on the way for families, despite it costing $23 more than normal to fill an average petrol car & $36 more to fill a diesel car.
#BREAKING: Nicola Willis tells New Zealanders her plan for fuel prices is: ¯\(ツ)/¯
The Coalition Government love giving the rich more money and aren’t shying away from corporate welfare.
The common factor in cancelling policies like the Clean Car Discount and GIDI fund was that they were reducing emissions (and therefore our exposure to high oil prices.)
If Nicola Willis really didn’t want to hand out lots of money to rich people, why the billions in tax cuts for landlords?
It’s an absolute rubbish excuse to cancel a policy that was demonstrably working to bring in EVs and low emissions vehicles.

The price of petrol is rising. Meanwhile, the Luxon Government has cancelled the Clean Car Discount and is potentially scrapping the Clean Car Standard, two options which would reduce our need for fuel in the long term.
A graphic with a dark green background displays the text: “Power company profits in 6 months: $1.85 billion” in large yellow lettering. Below, on a white torn‑paper texture, green text reads: “How’s your power bill going?” Small fine print at the bottom notes authorisation by Green MP Scott Willis
Meridian, Contact, Mercury and Genesis Energy are reporting record profits. Meanwhile, are your power bills any lower?

Putting what matters first 🌏🌿
The pattern is clear. This Government is secretly locking New Zealand into deeper alignment with the US without ever putting it to the public, whether it's critical minerals deals, AUKUS Pillar 2, or now handing over our biometric data.
New Zealand should be coordinating with the EU and other like-minded countries to collectively negotiate proper safeguards, not quietly capitulating.
