Well if there was a 2022 discussion in the New York State Bar Journal what more remains to be said? Lock him up and throw away the key!

"Manimal" but where they have different manimals in different cities, "CSI"-style, like "Manimal: Melbourne" where he could turn into a wombat

Mentos Commercial Cinematic Universe

(also it is hard not to say something like "The GlaxoSmithKline Drug Patent Show" when "IP" is used in this fashion)

Because all DC Biglaw firms have clients with cases that might wind up before the Supreme Court.

The idea that you'd need to bribe John Roberts for him to rule against voting rights, environmental protections or affirmative action, or in favor of corporate interests or the GOP, is frankly a little silly. It's like saying Cookie Monster must be being bribed to eat cookies.

I'm the lonely voice in the wilderness saying that while both Robertses are certainly awful people, she is a former major law firm partner in DC just like her husband. Poaching a Biglaw partner with a huge book of business absolutely is worth paying millions in commissions to a top legal headhunter.

It's very common at all levels and encouraged as a way to work around kids' short attention spans and distaste for reading. However, a teacher told me recently that 5-10 years ago kids used to perk up at video content and now they watch so much of it all day long that it has no remaining novelty.

I saw a kid type "summarize 13th amendment" into Google AI moments after being asked to read it. Didn't even bother to look at it first and find out it is two sentences long.

Huge dips in white GOP support in 92 and 08, and only then. Democrats keep thinking these are the electorate moving left when the more banal likelihood is that white people will swing Democratic only when the Dem candidate is highly charismatic.

just that nothing else like the Church remains? Are there any other powerful global institutions whose ideology doesn't map onto the liberal / illiberal left / right framework? Does the UN count?

I was wondering why the idea that the Catholic Church could be very progressive on some issues and appallingly repressive on others fries people's circuits. I was thinking it was because the global decline in religious belief means less familiarity with theology in general. Then I thought: is it...

Since the right has few qualms about making correlation-is-causation arguments, consider:

In 1986, Reagan liberalized US immigration policy. In 1991. the Soviet Union collapsed and the US became the world's sole superpower.

Who's to say one didn't bring about the other?

Maybe you mean politicians the Republicans call liberal, but US voters who call themselves liberals? While historically there's been a Zionist bloc, and Tesla ownership past Musk's turn to fascism, I have never seen or heard a self-identified liberal support the wars in Iran or Gaza.

Puzzle 2-47: Some Assembly Required ยท Thinky Dailies A Nurikabe puzzle designed by JinHoo Ahn for Thinky Dailies.

I've gotten hooked on these daily logic puzzles, which hopefully will help me when they show up in puzzle hunts. There's a little cartoon storyline that goes with them. h/t @illogicaljoker.bsky.social

I grew up next to a public golf course. It was universally believed that the center of any of the golf balls we found around the neighborhood contained a few drops of radioactive liquid, so you should never cut into one, though everyone had heard about a kid who'd done it anyway (fate unknown)

He and she were both top DC law firm partners before he became Chief Justice. They had the same professional network, which is what she draws on as a top-level legal recruiter. The bigger point is that you don't have to funnel $ to Roberts to get him to vote the way he votes. He'll do it for free!
