The Times headline: Transgender teenager’s German chess triumph prompts call for ban
IT’S FUCKING CHESS
What POSSIBLE advantage, even in the warped mind of a transphobe, could being transgender give you at chess? They’re so nakedly hateful they just can’t stand any trans person winning anything ever. Pathetic.
Really happy to have won this years English language short story competition at @dinglelit.bsky.social 💚 thank you to John Patrick McHugh and all at Dingle Lit ✨

This kid is 15, and so has a moral clarity and uprightness that no adult elected official would or could ever have. There aren't really and never have been two sides of this issue, but if it has to be argued as a binary thing I don't see how anything less than this could seem like the side to be on.
These ladies do amazing work that is sadly in more demand than ever
If you can, please throw a few Euros their way.
The UK's political and media class has spent years heaping sadism on trans people, and they want to do the same in Ireland next. Calls for civility and calm won't cut it. We need to fight them tooth and nail.

I don’t usually do this, but please read this piece - it’s about good people in terrible circumstances and the world has sort of forgotten them
A year to the day that @robin.berjon.com and my viral article was published by @latams.bsky.social at @noemamag.com I got news that
My book proposal "Rewild and Resist: How ecology can tame Big Tech to create a world we want to live in"
may just have found its dream US publisher! More news soon...

If you were wondering whether outright authoritarianism and repression in the US could create a perceived permission structure for similar behaviour elsewhere, the lads have come right out and said it here.
amazing! 🤯💥
If Hamas had killed 7 Israelis inside of Israel this week, it would be one of the biggest stories in the world, & all over the US media.
But Israel killed 7 HUNDRED Palestinians this week, including almost 200 children, & yet there's little outrage from our politicians or media.
Immigration is good! It's a good thing. Immigration is not at the root of any of our problems. I'm not prepared to cede that ground, to be honest.

i'm exploring whether we're doing more harm than good by introducing irish-language AI by taking a few points into consideration:
👉 is there even enough gaeilge on the internet to train AI?
👉 could AI bastardise what irish we *do* have on the internet?
👉 protect translators ‼️
Reminder: Kennys Bookshop delivers for free in Ireland. Easons have free delivery over 10 euros (and also sell toys and games and stationary). Lots of lovely booksellers in the actual stores too, like Books Upstairs, Gutter Bookshop, Hodges Figgis.
I love Karen!!!
