"We want to see the academic publishing industry change in a way that benefits science, not just profits"

We are looking for a new group leader to join the IGH (Montpellier, France). I can’t wait to meet my future colleague! Apply :-) More infos here: igh.cnrs.fr/join-igh-as-...
Let me post a spicy take here: most people don't read or cite other model organisms' work. Because of this, they keep rediscovering things and, most importantly, re-writing the timeline in favor of fewer and fewer models. That, plus an artificial limit of citations per paper equals this 🧪
🦴🐟 I’ve step into the role of Senior Leader for the Skeletal Diseases Research Interest Group (RIG) within the Zebrafish Disease Models Society (ZDMS).
🐟🐟🦴🦴I’ll be reaching out soon to discuss our roadmap for the year, upcoming webinars, and collaborative initiatives.

We are recruiting three new lecturers!

Joel is such a creative scientist, but also such a generous kind individual. People like him are so important to our community.
All travelers from ESTA countries (yes the ones on visa waiver programs) will have to disclose 5 years of social media + huge amounts of personal data to enter the US now. All US academic associations should now meet outside the US if we want to meet our international colleagues.
Exactly this. Success rates of 0.5% = a huge waste of effort.
Exciting new #Zebrafish research from the #WeinsteinLab, led by Jong Park!

Super fun experience doing a PhD defense in Iceland. Well done Dr Abbi Smith! Also a great opportunity to take the kids to Iceland and sneak in some glacier hiking and golden triangle trips in a frozen wonderland!
🧪For those of us who do complex collaborations with multiple corresponding authors this is terrible . I suspect it will also hit female authors disproportionately as they tend to have more collaborations across fields…https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-03281-4
🔬 Limb regeneration depends on regenerative signaling center cells — but how do these cells influence others to proliferate, migrate, or differentiate?
We’re recruiting PhD or Postdoc candidates to explore this with our collaborator @osvaldo-chara.bsky.social !

Best way to spent a hot weekend. In the water. 6km swim for Bantham swoosh, then sea kayaking with the kids
This is a brilliant place to work. PI’s consider flagging this up to talented Masters students
