(I'll also agree about the veterans. They've been baaaaad. Throw Rust in there. His lack of discipline turned the game on its ear.)

He isn't getting help. But he needed to stop at least two of those goals.
Trade for an ass goalie, expect ass goaltending.
The 2025-26 Pittsburgh Penguins.
Playoff Stu Skinner is here.
Since the Flyers and Penguins can't play watchable hockey, they're instead giving us this.
At least it's watchable.
He should have used a razor blade to slice his face open ala 1980s WWF.
"What's our defensive rating in a very small sample size that isn't going to tell us much of anything but it kinda supports my team so let's roll with it"
As last night's Montreal v Tampa game settled in to actual hockey as opposed to roller derby with skate blades, Tampa got better.
5v5 xG through two periods: MTL 1.98, TB 0.92
5v5 xG in the third and OT: TB 1.19, MTL 0.09
Maybe Montreal should try to muck it up more. ๐

I'm not sure about this. There's been A LOT of previous whining to account for.
Prince Fielder hit an inside the park home run at the Metrodome when Lew Ford lost a routine (but really high) pop up in those notorious lights. What a moment.

Hell of a game, these teams are both very good, pretty closely matched.
Overtime makes everyone weird.
Can't believe they got Josh Anderson off his death bed for overtime.
I'm willing to acknowledge here that it's getting entirely out of hand. Like, I paid 200$ for the Brewers and MLB packages, but I still need Sling, Peacock, and my TV antenna to get all the national games.
And MLB is pretty simple compared to the NFL and NBA right now.
Jon Cooper is going to have some questions to answer after this one, because surely some of the Canadian reporters who are there will want to know why he put that shithead on the ice late in regulation.
Two of which are paid streaming services. And unlike the NFL, there's no provision to get the games on free TV in at least the home markets.
In other news, the Brewers undeniably won the Devin Williams trade.
We've talked about this a lot, it feels like, but it's a major problem that not a single soul in power gives enough of a shit about.
This is where it would be awesome if ESPN took its studio show even a little serious.
He got hooked off the puck to set up the scoring chance right before that, but go on.
I already knew Tampa (Kucherov especially) did that. Expected better of Montreal.
McDonagh gets hooked off the puck to set up a scoring chance, then takes a dumb penalty.
I watched one of them. It's not shocking. This year was so bad that I'm pretty sure I heard it reported that the league at least considered asking them to stop playing each other in the preseason.
I'm only being half serious...
If you took away the Tampa v Florida games, what does that do to the numbers?
This is child's play compared to those games. ๐ฌ๐ฌ
The best teams can balance it. And Tampa better figure that part out, for sure. Would say the same thing about my beloved Wild. They played some excessively dumb hockey last night and were made to pay for it. Again.
Every good team in the league can play that way. Every one of them. Do they do it all the time? No. Does Tampa (or Florida or anyone else)? Also no.
But the team that can't get a little dirty isn't going very far in 2026.
It's also how they won two Cups. And how Florida won two. And it'll be how Montreal wins if they do, because they're very capable of cranking up the mean factor. More than holding their own here, and I absolutely mean that as a compliment.
Embarrassing from Kucherov.
Yikes, has Montreal done anything wrong? Josh Anderson for Lady Byng, right? ๐คฃ
