This Is Just To Say

I have turned off
the AI features

only the critics say that? because I don't think that the advocates are coy about it.

BAFTA pulling a trailer for an autobiographical game about surviving sexual assault only hours before it was said to be a part of a showcase is an exceptionally bad look.

Again: for any big liberal donor who wants to funnel millions into fixing this country's politics, the ROI on buying any struggling paper and simply tasking it with doing real reporting on local news is vastly higher than the same $$ given to some group that does mass ad buys every election year.

Dilley is evil and must be closed. It's a goddamn concentration camp. A moral abomination. People are going to Hell over this.

the two most successful recent democratic presidential campaigns ran with progressive-coded messages -- obama 2008, biden 2020. the campaigns that adopt cautious centrism - harris 24, kerry 04, clinton 16, gore 2000 - fucking lose. so of course ny times editorial board wants dems to do the latter.

So it seems like Magyar built a big tent with the goal to topple the corrupt autocrat and boost the economy. @nytimes.com suggests that Hungarians were voting for his social conservativism though he didn’t center this in his campaign. A bit of ideological projection going on at the editorial board.

Worth noting that the first part of the first sentence does not at all lead logically to its end.

The fact that "A.i." is becoming more widespread does NOT mean educators must learn to "integrate it as a tool."

Educators could in fact REJECT IT ENTIRELY.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.

age verification is identity verification. this is an identity verification bill. do you want to make everyone verify their identity to the state right now? does that seem prudent? that's going to keep people safe?

the only safe data is the kind you don't collect

Happy Trans Day of Visibility. I know trans people and I know fascists who are making life difficult for trans people. The trans people are pretty cool and I'm glad I know them. The fascists can go fall down a deep dark hole.

Really not loving how basically every politician on the planet is jumping on board with these types of age verification laws, tbh!

Don't Give SpaceX This Wildlife Refuge Help protect ocelots, piping plovers, and other Texas wildlife from a corporate land grab.

SPACE X is to be gifted a wildlife refuge to build its polluting, habitat destructive greed monstrosities. (I support space exploration, just nothing to do with Musk.) This series of petitions from this wildlife protection organization are legit. Have gotten specific responses from congress.

It's interesting how The Daily Wire attacks the idea that gender is a performance when their sets are all about gender performance. Look at the aesthetics here — the cigars and crystal decanter with Japanese whiskey, the black dress shirt, the tight suit with two-toned double monks and tie bar ...

see?
here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared
