Yes I know daylilies are toxic to cats. But I have 80 varieties in my yard. Popeye, don't make me choose between you and my flowers!

An orange cat in a garden.
Popeye has decided he wants to be an indoor/outdoor kitty. Never had one of those before! Unfortunately, he keeps eating my daylilies and coming inside to barf. 🤷🏻♀️

Story TK
Years ago, a writer friend was passing through on tour. I didn't know him that well, but I liked what I knew of him - and when he suggested that I join him (and the other writer touring with them) to hang and sign stock, I said "Sure, let's do it." So the three of us spent a day doing that. (1)
Mass murderers, holocaust-scale mass murderers, except it was a handful of almost teenage tech bros impersonally crossing out budget items.
Someday, someone is going to make a movie about the tech-bros who recklessly dismantled the professional US administrative state and it’s going to be devastating.

This whole thing was a setup for TV and that any news organization takes this even remotely at face value is going to turn me into the Joker.
this is legitimately fascinating as an a real life demonstration of why trump is flailing
My favorite part of going to the doctor is when he touches my forehead holding the glowing orb of light
My garden used to mean so much to me, but now it holds so many bad memories. This summer, I need to perform some kind of exorcism or else I'm going to have to get rid of all this beauty.
I asked BJ if she wanted to read Eric's eulogies since she couldn't go to his funeral, and she said no because it would make her too upset. I haven't felt the same way about my daylilies since Judy and Eric both died. I need to find a way to get past that!
Purple daylily with chartreuse throat. Grape velvet.
Realized BJ doesn't live in Indiana anymore, so I DMed her to make sure she knew my husband (ex-husband, actually) died a little over a year ago. She knew. 😢 She asked me how my former in-laws are all doing, and I had to tell her that talking to them just makes me too upset right now.
Sure enough, Judy's best friend and Day Lily buddy BJ commented. The woman who helped her buy hundreds of varieties back in the late 80's and early 90's. BJ made a comment on every variety I posted because she has them all too.
Pictures of a few daylilies and a large daylily patch.
On Friday, I joined a Facebook group called daylily lovers and posted some pics of mine and a pic of my mother-in-law Judy's garden. I said, I'll bet you there are some people in this group who've been to this garden!
Good question!

Listen up: I am one of those rare sex assault victims who actually took the guy who did it to court. It was a local scandal that put my initials on the front page of the local paper (not my whole name because I was a minor).
You have no idea what happens to women on the stand or in the press.
bridgette9.bsky.... @bridgette9.bsky.so... Sexual assault is a horrible crime. A former staffer reports that Eric Swalwell assaulted her in 2019 & 2024. She didn't report the 2019 incident. I wonder why she didn't quit her job. People need to drink less do they don't get so drunk. This can help prevent a lot of crimes. F Forbes@ @forbes.com • 6h The investigation comes after CNN reported a former staffer accused Swalwell of sexually assaulting her in 2024, though Swalwell has denied the woman's account.
WTAF is wrong with you?
Victim blaming rather than holding men accountable for SA is fucked up. Maybe she needed the health insurance that job provided, maybe she needed the experience of that job to be competitive in another position…FFS…I hope you’re never SA’d and then demeaned as a victim.
Sigh. What a dirt bag.
There oughta be a law...oh wait...
FYI, this is in my 300-level class. I actually DO teach novel-writing at the 400-level. 😁
I might re-title my class, "How to Not Write a Novel...for Now, at Least. Try a Story."
Lately, everything I listen to on my discovery playlist sounds like Newish Bands Influenced by Galaxie 500. Just now a song came on and I rushed to my phone to see who it was and it was Galaxie 500.
My students have a really hard time writing short stories, or rather, they have a really hard time *not writing* novels. They are *excellent* at writing the first 20 pages of a novel and stopping (they don't want their classmates to get mad at them for making them read too much).
Help us Obi Wan Kenobi. You're our only hope.
Amazingly, the Boozer Twins are not related to Emerson Boozer!
Watched the Duke game with my 79 y.o. dad. He said the Boozer twins' dad in the crowd was Emerson, but the announcers said his name was Carlos. Dad made me Google "Emerson Boozer," and sure enough! Dad: "I knew I remembered that name from somewhere." Super Bowl 3! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerson...

If I could go back in time, it would be to circa 1984-85 and I'd be a roadie for The Cult so I could hear She Sells Sanctuary every night. youtu.be/r_H-E76QzXI?...
